After that short, work-related, interruption, back to my daily photo blog posting routine ... Here's a snap shot of one of my favourite sunsets in the south of the island: Meloneras.

Love the mix of colours from the intense blue shades of both the sky and the ocean, with the ocre of the coastline and the grey of the small rocks, blending in all nicely while the mighty Atlantic Ocean waves hit gently the shore. Peace & quiet FTW! 🙌🏻😍🙌🏻

Good morning. 🌊🌊🌊

13 November 2025

I got up about an hour later than usual this morning. I’d stayed up late last night—well, late for me—watching a series on BritBox called The Good Ship Murder. It features a former detective inspector turned lounge singer and a ship’s first officer who solve a murder onboard in every episode. That’s right: a regular murder of one of the passengers seems to be a standing feature of the cruise. What a fantastic marketing ploy—“Be the lucky passenger.” Come on aboard, we’re expecting you. 🛳️

Charlie just barked, so I got up to let him in. But he only looked at me, so I shut the door and came right back in here. I’ll wait until his barking sounds a bit more insistent. He’s a strange character sometimes—perpetually on the wrong side of the back door. He’ll stay outside without complaint, as long as someone’s out there with him. Once I finish this morning’s dispatch into the digital void, I’ll grab my camera and we’ll both go sit outside and watch the birds.

In just about a week, we’re headed east again. We go every year—Thanksgiving with the family in a small house in a small Georgian town. My wife is from there. I sometimes call it Georgiania, just to hear her say, “That’s not how you say it.” For the same reason, I jokingly call Canada Canadia and Chanel No. 5 Channel 5. It’s all just to get a reaction. There’s something delightful about walking into the perfume department of a store and asking for help finding some of that Channel 5. Some people get the joke right away. Some don’t.

"Four Laughing Gulls (Leucophaeus atricilla) stand in quiet formation on the wet sand of a beach, their slender bodies upright, their black hoods and white underbellies sharply defined against the silvery sheen below. Each gull gazes out toward the sea, as if contemplating the horizon or waiting for a signal from the tide. Their reflections shimmer beneath them—soft, elongated echoes in the damp sand, doubling their presence in a mirror of stillness.

The ocean behind them rolls in gentle waves, low and rhythmic, brushing the shore with a hush. The sky is clear, the light diffuse, and the entire scene feels suspended in a moment of quiet anticipation.

Off to the left edge, slightly out of focus, stands a lone Forster’s Tern (Sterna forsteri), its posture mirroring the gulls—head tilted toward the sea, legs planted in the wet sand. Though blurred, its presence adds a note of asymmetry and quiet contrast, like a footnote in a coastal ledger.

The composition is serene and deliberate, capturing a shared gaze among species, a moment of collective stillness before flight or tide." - Microsoft Copilot and the photographer

Finally I did some printing again! ❤️
It took me a bit to get into the right settings again but I have a nice A5 print now 🙂
Good that I just recently ordered some ink as the black was pretty low already.

A beautifully textured tree trunk takes center stage in this image, its surface adorned with a lush layer of vibrant green moss. The intricate patterns of the moss create a striking contrast against the rough bark, highlighting the natural artistry found in the forest. Delicate ferns and small plants sprout from the mossy surface, adding to the sense of life and vitality.

The background is a soft blur of more trees and foliage, providing a sense of depth and emphasizing the detailed beauty of the moss-covered trunk. The light filtering through the canopy casts gentle shadows, enhancing the rich textures and creating a serene, almost magical atmosphere.

This captivating scene evokes the quiet beauty and intricate detail of the natural world, inviting a moment of appreciation for the small wonders often overlooked in the forest.
