@BenBot Just looked over your gamedev diaries, neat! Keep up the good work!

@justdaveisfine um, no need to call us out like that, yeah?

@JubalBarca sorry to hear about this. Hope this can somewhat be resolved since having a Paypal account does make a lot of things easier. Wishing you good luck with that. :/ Sounds pretty stressful.

@PetePlaysTheGames I getcha - between irl things, getting stuck in being "in the flow" and just being too drained, was hard to get back on. Kiiiinda nice to hear that you weren't too bothered by it, haha.

@PetePlaysTheGames Hey, am back on social media. It looks like I took a three-day-weekend that lasted nearly a year! Apologies on dying out there - 😭
Am back now though, hoping to figure out something consistent to stay on. So, hi again!

@PetePlaysTheGames this is exactly what I meant but skewed perspective for my part.

I'm doing this less and less now, but the self-gaslighting on whether "I did anything at all" is always really disturbing. Not to mention the self-bashing train of thought that used to arrive afterwards.

I've been managing better with some serious boundary setting with myself ("we talked about this, Mildred" - so I tell my harshest self critiquing inner voice) and tracking my activities more persistently when the warping gets particularly bad. Nothing like some data to unwarp things.

@odoben

This shouldn't work, but it does! A similar trick would be the coffee stains on paper.

@PetePlaysTheGames I find it much easier to give myself some leeway to start my day slower when I know it's a three-day weekend, or anything similar.

Funnily enough, I'll end up either trying something completely new that energizes me with that extra "free" time, or, I'll use it to do a bigger task that may have felt daunting to attempt on a regular day/weekend.

Can't comment on the "more or less productive" bit, still dealing with skewed views around that.

@georgetakei I'll favorite this, no strings attached!

@PetePlaysTheGames Yes, these were discount prices, and the original prices for fresh copies were not far off.

@PetePlaysTheGames I've always thought that tying the lack of resale/re-purposing options for digitally purchased games is a bit of a cop-out. Sure, some platforms allow family sharing, but you can't really do nearly as much with it as you can with digital copies of the same game.

Not to mention, you kind of get sucked into a sunk-cost fallacy of needing to keep using that platform. Worse still, what if a platform, Steam, for example, crashes and burns one day? I shudder to think of that possibility.

This bloats the value of physical copies, but I wish that there was more security for digital consumers.

These second-hand physical copies are priced in a way that the "occasion" (which refers to discount in French), feels more like they are taking the "occasion" to rip people off (compared to the deals you can get online).

@grumpygamer This has been more of a debilitating condition for me, rather than a full blown curse.

@grumpygamer Care to share?

@grumpygamer I guess I'm late to the naming party.

@trick0 Definitely do take some rest. I had the flu 2 weeks ago, and worked the whole time, all but one day. It can be hard to prioritize recovery when there is so much to do, but we're really better off for it.

@grumpygamer why not Treblig Nor?

@wendyparciak I'd say it can happen at any point. Can be part of the initial inspiration, or only present itself to me after finishing the piece.

@nathanolsenart You're doing an amazing job with it. Would love to know more about how you embarked on this journey and how you expanded into Patreon.

@turbohermit Want to expand on what you mean? I'm interested.
