@leeloo oh, yeah, exactly 100% - just like *any other method* of transporting DNS.

This argument makes no sense. Your recursive provider has always been able to see 100% of your DNS queries. That is just how it works.

DoH is a *transport protocol*. It moves DNS queries between you and your provider.

DoH does not change the dynamics of the relation between DNS client and DNS provider at all. It *only* changes the way the queries are transported.

Anyone want a #BornHack 2025 ticket, incl. the cabin bed (full week, 7 days) + 100 HAX (food/drink credits)?

Cost was 2437 DKK / 327 Euro, willing to negotiate about that :)

@rixx this post has a 10 year anniversary coming up but it is still good advice: blog.tyk.nu/blog/cleaning-up-d tl;dr delete them all, run makemigrations, and then migrate --fake. Done.

@malte the video support in matrix is as bad as the chat support in jitsi @benjaoming

@malte depends a lot on if you want to replace the video meetings or the chat stuff from teams. Jitsi is fantastic for video meetings but not much to look at in the chat department :( @benjaoming

Tak! :)

@bsdphk oh come on what a load of mostly nonsense even back in 2018 :)

The author is consistently confusing Cloudflare as a DNS provider with using DoH as DNS transport. They are, as you know, two seperate things.

They also seem to think that the DNS provider seeing all your lookups is somehow limited to DoH, even though it applies equally to DoT, DoQ, dnscrypt, and plain port 53 DNS

DoH is fine. Firefox defaulting to Cloudflare DoH was bad. Fortunately it was for US users only. Thanks EU! :)

@snonux this _used_ to work. I managed a pair of very stable mailhosts with HAST and ZFS about 15 years ago. A more simple solution could be incremental zfs snapshots sent in a loop.

"AI companies claim their tools couldn't exist without training on copyrighted material. It turns out, they could — it's just really hard. To prove it, AI researchers trained a new model that's less powerful but much more ethical. That's because the LLM's dataset uses only public domain and openly licensed material."

tl;dr: If you use public domain data (i.e. you don't steal from authors and creators) you can train a LLM just as good as what was cutting edge a couple of years ago. What makes it difficult is curating the data, but once the data has been curated once, in principle everyone can use it without having to go through the painful part.
So the whole "we have to violate copyright and steal intellectual property" is (as everybody already knew) total BS.
