@Pionir @wlukewindsor @Leenorganics @pete @ascentale @epu @bikenite I'm with @Pionir David S on this. Carbon bikes just never even crossed my mind when I bought a new one for the first time in years. I always think back to my first proper bike in the late 70s which was a lovely Raleigh Super Course my dad got me. Then the handrail MTBs of the 90s. These days I look for the small brands & craftspeople making metal bikes.

@wlukewindsor @Leenorganics @pete @ascentale @epu @bikenite I prefer steel bikes & also ride aluminium because their carbon footprint is lower. They can be infinitely recycled and steel can be welded if you bust it. Break a carbon frame and, well, it's busted. I think metal bikes just look better, too...Each to their own, though. BTW, I like the cap!

@Chrissy I'm not sure what your budget is but Mont-bell (the Japanese co.) offer good quality affordable gear. I've been using their Thunder Pass rain gear in the Japanese mountains for 5 years (same outfit) & it still does the job. You could check it out if it's in a store near you.

Tokyo graffiti. When I'm out and about on one of my bikes, I often stop & snap pictures of graffiti/street art. In Tokyo, the local 'authorities' are quick to paint it out. I often ride past a bridge or underpass to see grey blocks of paint where there was colourful art. #cycling #graffiti #sreetart #tokyo

Here's another bike & building snap I took in Hachioji city, Tokyo. The bike is a customised 2021 Trek FX1 XL hybrid with Nitto Bullmoose b923 bars, Diacompe MX1 levers and some Nissen cable housing. It's been stripped to the raw aluminium. Everything else is standard. #cycling #cyclinglife #cyclingphotos #tokyo
