From my (rusty) radius knowledge shouldn't be too complex to configure freeradius to authenticate users from your custom database structure, its sql module is quite flexible

I wish more software engineering leaders remembered that typing out the code was never the hard part.
Typing out the right code. That was the hard part.
AI doesn't help with that. AI tools will happily:
- generate 5k line functions
- install 100 packages to handle something built into a language
- optimize for non-bottlenecks
- write 10x tests for the same 5 functions and leave most untested
AI is cool, but you still need brain on, so your AI buddy doesn't walk you into a dead end.
It's been a month since I've been without $job, but that doesn't mean I was lazy π I used this time to prepare a lot of changes to Django π including some old feature requests like database-level delete options and decimal fields with no precision, as well as fixing 15+ years old bugs π I'm still on the market! Do you need help with your Python/Django app? π Contact me π¬
@raiderrobert π€ͺ from my experience that's almost always true
@raiderrobert
I agree. But don't forget the "Guido corollary": "Maslow's Hammer applies to everything except Python. Python it's always the perfect tool for any job" ππ
Ofc I'm just joking: it's totally true, I've seen too many projects crumbling under that load (even python ones π)
TLDR; The PSF has made the decision to put our community and our shared diversity, equity, and inclusion values ahead of seeking $1.5M in new revenue. Please read and share. https://pyfound.blogspot.com/2025/10/NSF-funding-statement.html

In light of the current #aws outage...
Kind of frustrating that serval gaming outlets are calling the Oct 28 release of Death by Scrolling a "Windows PC" release while totally ignoring (forgetting) it also includes the native Mac and Linux. We worked hard to fully support all three platforms.

If your first inclination upon seeing a new Mastodon user is to tell them all the ways they are Doing It Wrong, consider maybe just not doing that
The AI boom is showing concrete signs of a bust. The latest US Census Bureau survey reveals the largest drop in corporate AI adoption since tracking began, with usage among large firms falling from 14% to under 12%.
The core problem is a complete failure to monetize: 95% of companies using AI report it has generated zero new revenue.
Companies are now re-hiring human workers, signaling a realization that enterprise AI cannot yet deliver on its promises.

If your company is benefiting from Djangoβs stability and maturity to test or train AI models, consider **funding Djangoβs development**.

@andreagrandi I am pretty sure creators can't change it (because I heard some of them complaining about this feature) and I haven't found a way to disable it myself
Ai-Enshittification at its worts
@andreagrandi It seems related to the browser language, actually. In any case it's a horrible experience
I lived long enough to see American troops roll out a red carpet for Putin on their knees. Iβm definitely surviving out of spite as a veteran at this point.
Unlike many on this app I am still actually, quietly a fan of many market-economic solutions to problems. Markets are a powerful technology. I even like some aspects of what one might call βcapitalismβ. The ability to invest capital and capture a portion of its return can be an inducement to resource the *creation* of means of production, where no such means previously existed.
Ora Γ¨ solo Microsoft Al Hub.
Addio, GitHub.

The largest five AI providers should support @ThePSF with a grant of 1 million USD per year each for a period of 5 years. All these companies and their business depend on Python and they should show their commitment to Python.
Companies like Meta offer millions to single AI persons. They should have the money for supporting #Python with a very small portion of their budgets.
