Pinning here just in case; while I still adore mastodon, I need a bluesky account for two reasons;

1 - Literally everyone I knew/followed on Xitter, especially the ones that didn't make it to the hairy elephant is getting on that boat.

2 - QUOTED BOOSTS. Seriously, mastodon, it's not hard. At this point the resistance to the feature is because of the early adopters getting butt hurt over it for some reason.

#2 makes it a COLLABORATIVE social network; people can't riff if they can't quote.🙄

Yeah, keeping off the social feeds and the total cessation of doom scrolling cold has produced... interesting results. I had no idea how many false alarms and overall expressions of panic had been impacting me negatively.

While I keep hearing news that has lifted my spirits (5 decades of politics gives me hope) I'm wondering if there's a market for a shirt with the following slogan:

REMEMBER:
Trump voters did this.

Nothing else. 😏

@ArtSmart Short answer is "yes" but like you I've gone cold turkey... and my stomach is finally unclenching... so I don't even want to chance checking how I filtered such things.

I do know there used to be a browser extension called "Make Trump Kittens Again" which would replace most of his visage with random cute kitteh's... that might still be around in some form.

I've survived Nixon, Reagan, both Bush's and Trump... we'll survive this for very surprising reasons, but we'll survive.

🙏🏼

Gavin Newsom: “The freedoms we hold dear in California are under attack — and we won’t sit idle. California has faced this challenge before, and we know how to respond. We are prepared to fight in the courts, and we will do everything necessary to ensure Californians have the support and resources they need to thrive.”

Heartbroken.

But we'll still beat this.

Take care of you and yours... and whatever blessings you can find.

I blame the Nazis, the people who voted for Nazis, and the people who didn't vote to stop the Nazis.

Not sure why that's so hard for some people to say. Might want to think about that.

Okay, that's it.

I get it... y'all are butt hurt about not still having your privilege. You'd rather subjugate yourselves (I'm looking at YOU, white women!) then let a black woman be president. Suppress me an mine because we don't fit in your country wide HOA mentality.

Well, okay. I'm done.

After 50 years of this crap I'm going to be too busy protecting me and mine from now on: all y'all are on your own.

When I first contracted at Apple in 1993, there were about 10 thousand employees... when I left with Guy Kawasaki when he formed garage.com in 1998, that number had dropped to 6,658.

Reading an article today about, despite some small layoffs, Apple's employee count still went up... to 164,000 people.

Yeah, I'm shocked. 🤯

I saw the original cartoon by the unstoppable Mike Luckovich a few days ago and thought "oof, nice."

Then today... I saw this.

is now a thing... and about as deftly handled as Trump fellating a microphone.

Screen shot of a tweet by Ben Phillips (@benphillips76 on Xitter)
of a response to a posting of a Mike Luckovich cartoon. The single panel shows a line of red robed/white capped women in the style of "The Handmaid's Tale" walking into a voting booth, and leaving as fully realized people having cast off their nun-like outfits for secular clothing, the robes and hats casually discarded to the sides.

The response to this from FacesOutOfContext (@FacesOutOfCTX, complete with Blue Checkmark™): "The author of that book used Islam, not Christianity, an a model for her imaginary world. This is obviously true, as it resembles Islamic culture and law, and not Christian"

The issue with this is the cartoon was posted by... the verified account of Margaret E Atwood. You know... the female author?

Of note is she provides no comment, and the picture stands on it's own; there was no comment as to the religion involved. Sounds like someone really wanted to distance themselves from that dystopian vision for the future, now available as the un-authorized prequel: "Project 2025".

HAVE YOU VOTED YET??

I have.

As a father of a daughter (19) and the son of a woman who wasn't allowed to hold a mortgage nor credit card in her name when our NYPD dad abandoned my and my 3 younger sisters when I was 8.... in 1972, you best well believe I sure AF have.

Single panel political cartoon by Adam Zyous for The Buffalo Ness:

White background. On the left side is a basic voting booth with a typical cis male is voting. He's looking over he right shoulder, slightly turned forward toward out perspective, as his daughter (about 10 years old, dressed in pink and carrying a pink Yeti style insulated cup with a straw) asks "Who are you voting for, Daddy?"

He answers: "You."

[Yeah, that's about right on as hell, dad. ~Y~]

@Posibilities_Penguin Ah, there it is; Trump's Jan 6 speech is noted at 53,000 people; MSNBC is reporting there are 73,000 people at Kamala's Ellipse speech.

Obama set up a zinger at today’s rally in Pennsylvania; he talks about learning the price of after he first purchased them after the birth of his first daughter, Malia. He asks, rhetorically, “do you think Donald Trump ever changed a diaper?”

In the beautifully placed pause a voice rang out; “Only his own!”

As the crowd erupts Obama noted he had thought of that too… but didn’t think he should go there.

I wish he had gone with the classics with:

“I guess it Depends…”

Just spent way too much of my Spanish class trying to explain the electoral college system.

My Spanish teacher finally told me to tell her in English because it wasn't making sense in Spanish. GUESS WHAT, IT DOESN'T MAKE SENSE IN ENGLISH EITHER.

@stroughtonsmith DUDE. I love when that happens… when you think the shot went south. But you come across it later… and you realize you nailed it in a way you couldn’t have planned. 👏

Editing to add: okay I got this on the big screen to get a better look and was stunned at the small details that make this shot even more surreally beautiful, like Krypto the Superdog meets a goth Maxfield Parrish. To echo other comments, this be print worthy and “Suitable for Framing“. 🖼️

Leica’s photo bomb may just be the best picture I’ll ever take

A photo of a pink and green sky with a large green streak across it. In the middle of the photo is a pale transparent image of a white boxer dog standing still, the green streak looking very much like the dog is a superhero wearing a bright green cape

This? This is a piece of lasagna pasta, uncooked (shown with US penny and nickle for scale).

And it just nearly cost me about 1500 to 2000 $US.

"WTaF??" you might ask?

Apparently the pasta piece was dragged under the fridge by the mice I trapped a few weeks ago, where they somehow managed to jam it into the condenser fan, stopping it. 🤦🏼‍♂️

When I registered 150+ degrees on the front of the fridge I was afraid it would mean we'd need a new fridge.

All now. 🔧

A broken piece of the scalloped edge of a uncooked lasagna noodle on a brown background. A US Penny (1 cent) and Nickle (five cents) is shown for scale.

Stupid pasta.
