Nice 15km run today. The goal was neither distance nor speed, but time in the shoes. I was going for low-to-moderate effort for a long time, to remind the heart and lungs (and legs) what to do. This was my first post-injury long run, and it felt pretty solid through mile 8, though the last 1.33 miles were a little tough.
After a long hiatus - literally over two decades - I chalked up a "run" of 10k, actually over 15k. Granted it was on a treadmill, granted about 50% was a fast walk (15 minute pace) but I squeezed in almost 10k of 12 min or better pace. Getting in the pool afterwards felt so good!
Previously getting bored has always been a strong barrier to distance running for me. But now I pull up a streaming TV show and binge away. Today it was For All Mankind. Does the trick!
My son ran a 15K race in 1:00:02 this morning. Third place overall. VERY PROUD!
Trying to do my part, I got over 15,000 new BlueTooths points on ONE of four rigs running during the spectating. Just trying to find #allTheWifi on Boom Island! And managed to walk 4.5 miles in the process.
