So, #retropc and #3dfx folks might be able to help. I got some junk in an estate sale recently, and among it was the attached card (carefully labelled). It’s a Quantum3D Obsidian 50SB 4440, basically a Voodoo 1 with an extra TMU and three times the RAM. I posted it on a 3Dfx Facebook group and it seems very, or maybe extremely, rare. I want it to go to a collector but I’m not sure what it’s worth. Any help?

Today is a good day for retrocomputing fans as they can now use ReactOS with the old 3dfx Voodoo 5 graphics card that was powerful at its time. Congratulations!

ReactOS is an “open-source Windows” operating system that provides support for most Windows applications that support Windows XP using the NT 5.2 compatibility layer. Games can now run with ReactOS on computers that use the 3dfx Voodoo 5 graphics card.

You can now run such games with the old binary drivers for the Voodoo 5 “VSA-100” that are built for Windows. This graphics card is compatible with ReactOS, because the compatibility layer works very well with it. However, further patches may be required to further improve the retro gaming experience.

If you want full performance out of your Voodoo 5 during your gaming sessions, you must install MesaFX/WickedGL.

Привет, %USERNAME%. Признаюсь: у меня никогда не было раньше ускорителей от знаменитой 3Dfx. Эта эпоха прошла мимо, хотя я постоянно натыкался на упоминание названия Voodoo в журналах того времени. Все игры начала миллениума я пробовал, уже имея компьютер с NVIDIA Riva TNT2, и не особо задумывался, а что же там было раньше. Спустя четверть века мне удалось собрать ретрокомпьютер моей мечты , но чего-то в нем не хватало. Через месяц я понял, что мне хочется попробовать ту самую легенду, о которой я столько слышал. Приступил к поискам и в какой-то момент на барахолке нашел коробку с новой по виду 3Dfx Voodoo 2. Продавец со скучающим видом сказал, что хочет за нее 5 евро, и незамедлительно их получил. Я же не мог поверить в случившееся, так как на eBay за подобную карту попросят от 150 до 250 евро. Кот в мешке? Возможно, но я же тоже анализирую покупки. Ускоритель выглядел новым, словно только вышел с завода. Плюс на контактах не было следов, что его уже вставляли в компьютер, а соединительный кабель был в оригинальном запаянном пластиковом пакете. Именно об этой карте и ее тестах сегодня и поговорим.
