This is legitimately one of my FAVORITE songs of the #90s , and this mix on side A is astonishingly good.
The first time I heard this song was during an MTV interview with Seal. He had played it during the interview on an acoustic guitar, and it caught my young ear immediately.
Every version of this song I’ve ever heard, every mix… is awesome.
It’s just such a phenomenal song.

This is a wonderful vocal version of the theme from the movie Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence, Sind beautifully by the one and only David Sylvian of the band Japan.
It’s an excruciatingly sad & beautiful song, and it’s a shame that these two couldn’t do more together in the #80s . They’re a musical match made in heaven.
Such gorgeous music, and an otherworldly vocal.

A WONDERFUL slice of #reggae / #dancehall awesomeness for last spin of the night.
Needed some lightness and levity to end my weekend. Need to feel good before I crashed out, and this has never failed in that endeavour. I absolutely love and adore this song.
The b-side, Royal Dub Instrumental is also great.
REAL reggae is and will always be fucking awesome.

Interestingly, and I suspect I know the answer to this, but I wonder if the ‘sold subject to resale price conditions’ still applies and if there would/could be a legal challenge to these sort of prices?
Thought I’d start recollecting all my old, lost 7” singles. It’ll be fun, I thought, and has to be cheaper than albums right?

45 years ago today, (Week Ending) March 29, 1980, Bette Midler debuted on the Billboard AC chart at #47 with "The Rose". She went on to spend five weeks at #1. Also, leaped up ten notches to #76 on the Hot 100 and eventually peaked at #3 for three weeks there.
I’ve collected many 45RPM singles over many years, but this is one from my mom's collection that I inherited.

But this is the gold standard, courtesy of Tim Spencer.

Some things just BEG to be framed& gazed upon as the work of art that they are.
While rearranging my library, & clearing some stuff out, I came across a big box of paper 45 sleeves; all from different eras, all with lovely design & artistic value.
There are tons more like this one, but this one in particular caught my eye.
That’s just beautiful.
It’s in a protective sleeve now, & I just gotta find a frame for it.
