I was wondering where this was! I got this old KAB EV-1 years ago, used to use it all the time but as it needed an external vacuum hooked up, it took up too much room. I am resurrecting it specifically for 78rpm shellac discs.

Spent some time in #Torrance today. This bridge is a local landmark--#PacificElectric / #RedCar lines used to go both over and under it. The tracks underneath are still active, the ones on top are no longer connected to anything.
Also hit an antique shop where I picked up some #78rpm records for $1 each.

the 4 Abe Katzman tracks from the 1920s can be streamed on the Mayrent Collection. Katzman was born in Chișinău in the 1860s and was playing klezmer in NY since at least the 1890s so I feel like these fairly conventional '20s klezmer tracks are just a glimpse🤓
