#8kun

Update: in a move that makes too much sense in retrospect, it turns out that #8kun is most probably responsible for the death of #4chan. Remember, the former #8chan was founded as a place for people so edgy, they managed to get themselves banned from the already hands-free 4chan.

Looks like somebody took #4chan down for good. Which unfortunately isn't going to help matters much in the battle against trolls, because they'll just move to the cesspool for people too edgy for even 4chan, a.k.a. #8kun f.k.a. #8chan. 404media.co/4chan-is-down-foll…

It is great to see advertisers leaving , whoops I meant the dead bird site. Same thing anymore, and it is time to start questing the motives of colleagues and orgs who remain there.

Microchip entered court wearing a hoodie, and carried himself with a vague swagger that matched his reputation as an online troll.

That trolling attitude crept into his testimony, like when he defined the hateful and pro-fascist imageboard website 4chan to the jury as “a place where ‘internet intellectuals’ get together to discuss current events.”

When not trafficking in disinformation and hate, Microchip liked to post about cryptocurrency ...

You can’t make this up.

Jim Watkins, owner of #8kun that largely pushed the conspiracy theory of #QAnon, has claimed that QAnon was invented by George Soros and left-leaning Media Matters, in a sworn testimony before the Jan. 6 committee. vice.com/en/article/93a7j3/jim

@chrisstoecker Ich ziehen meinen Hut.

Jim Watkins was a server supplier and business partner of Japanese bulletin board "2channel", but after a dispute with Hiroyuki Nishimura over money, he effectively took over and gained the right to run Japan's largest anonymous board, which still exists today under the name 5channel.

Researchers are considered to "QAnon phenomenon" was inspired the methods of spreading disinformation in Japanese largest anounymous board.

Jim Watkins, the founder of conspiracy theory site 8kun, was testifying via recorded video to the Jan 6 committee this week when 8kun et. al. got yanked offline. Watkins seemed to blame the committee, but it was my fault. The timing was pure coincidence.
