OMG, these cult worshipping idiots! The statement is right there in the comment, written in black and white...
I actually saw somebody try to use criticism of Carney's stance on the Iran war to endorse Poilievre!
Carney is parroting the Consdervative Party of Canada, at many points word-for-word.
Critique of Carney's horrific stance on war is justified but paints the CPC in even worse light and shows how the Liberal Party has betrayed Canadians with the CPC and how much we need strong leadership in the NDP.
@dmacphee Alberta is Atlas Network's biggest success?
Convincing 25% of a province within a successful liberal democracy that this success is bad?
"Atlas Network was born in this context with a clear objective: to inject the neoliberal doctrine not merely as one socio-economic model among others, but as a rationality unto itself, one capable of shaping how people perceive and interpret the world. Achieving this required depoliticizing concepts such as the free market, privatization, or deregulation, detaching them from the concrete interests they in fact serve, and presenting them instead as irrefutable truths. The chosen instrument for this purpose was what researchers Marie-Laure Djelic and Reza Mousavi call as the "neoliberal think tank."
Jason Kenney, Danielle Smith, Preston Manning. Ralph Klein all worked with Atllas to push its "well constructed ignorances (misinformation)

It’s only ‘heating up’ because our conservative-biased, majority US-owned media keeps feeding it oxygen.
Albertans don’t want this.

If only Canada had a National Energy Plan (NEP) for national energy security...but dotard Alberta fucked that up to push pipelines south instead of east. Canada also used to have nationalized petro, PetroCan, but the neoliberals influenced by reganomics fucked that also. Canada really needs to stop fucking itself up for foreign oilmen.
"Energy policy of the Government of Canada from 1980 to 1985
The National Energy Program was an energy policy of the Canadian federal government from 1980 to 1985. The economically nationalist policy sought to secure Canadian energy independence, though was strongly opposed by the private sector and the oil-producing Western Canadian provinces, most notably Alberta Continued in Wikipedia"

Ditching daylight savings time is a great idea... but making it permanent is not. DST should simply be ended with standard time becoming the new year round normal. This is not only my personal preference (because I'm a morning person who goes to sleep at a reasonable hour) but is also supported by experts.

'This week, Prime Minister Mark Carney was widely criticized for supporting Trump and Netanyahu's deadly attacks on Iran, which clearly violate the UN Charter's prohibition on the use of force. Since then, Carney and Foreign Minister Anand have struggled to explain their position and whether this contradicts international law.
When Carney finally took questions at a press conference on Tuesday, he admitted that "it appears that these actions [the US-Israeli attacks] are inconsistent with international law," and called the war a "failure of the international order." He even said that Canada had supported it with "regret." However, he reaffirmed that it doesn't matter either way, because Canada continues to support the war regardless.''
This is an outrageous position for the Canadian government to take, and it is the furthest thing from a principled foreign policy. It is not acceptable for Canada to identify that a violation of international law is taking place and still choose to support it.
Making things even worse, Carney has refused to "categorically rule out" the possibility of Canada's eventual military participation.
Carney's incoherent position on Iran is clearly at odds with both international law and public opinion. There is no justification for defending this deadly war of aggression which has undermined peace and security throughout the entire region.
Canadians do not want to join this illegal war of aggression, and we refuse to allow Carney to leave that door open. We need to continue to pressure this government to withdraw its support for these illegal attacks.
In solidarity,
Michael Bueckert, Vice President, CJPME'
@ZenHeathen It frightens me too, but does not surprise me in the least. Just like how Canada's Liberal party chose the most Conservative leader they could find.
This is how a two-party system (doesn't) works, and this is why I want to get involved in the NDP leadership campaign so we can have one party who will speak for the people who are silenced by this control through power.
We do not need to "appease" the other side to "broaden our appeal", we need to give our people a voice, who have been silenced for far too long! We need to speak for the marginalized and the minorities, because they are the silenced majority who are growing by numbers every day that Capitlists monopolize our country with greed.
This is how the US was lost to Trump in the first place, by the Democrats choosing a genocide-supporter over a worthy candidate for the people (Bernie Sanders). Now they're considering making a homophobe their leader to run against Trump?
It scares me how Canada follows the mistakes of the US, but we can change our course before it's too late.

I don't see a future of increased trade between the EU and Canada under Carney because Canada is a climate villain and the EU is moral. Either the EU has to become immoral and drop their climate and biodiversity laws, or Canada needs to do a 180 and become a moral nation. The EU already refuses dirty Canadian oil and is making noise about dirty Canadian gas...
Thank you to the EU for being ethical and moral!

Old enough to remember when you confidently went to the hospital to get treatment to get better, not to get harmed by preventable infections.
Alberta just gave $46 million more taxdollars for the toxic tailings lakes the excessively wealthy oilmen created to boost profits, so there's no money for health.
The UofA backtracking and smearing of DEI has harmed its reputation. Reputation is everything for universities (and ever inflating tuition).
"In an emailed statement, a university spokesperson reiterated to CBC News that the proposed policy change was carefully designed to stay compliant with federal requirements.
But Amir Attaran, a law professor at the University of Ottawa, doesn’t buy that.
“I trust the federal government to make sure the U of A does the right thing and keeps its EDI program in place,” he said."
