I am not really following the thing closely or understand much of it.
But I've been having a growing feeling over the last months that the hype over LLM slop might be starting to lose its luster.
Always hard to tell in advance, but the LLM hype might disappear just as quickly as blockchains did. I wouldn't be surprised if most people have already forgotten about it ever having been a thing within the next 6 to 12 months.
In the dystopian world we live in, #OpenAI is a company with a double-edged sword. On one hand, with #ChatGPT has contributed to “The Dead Internet Theory" by flooding the web with "infinite useless content" (#AISlop), where content is written by bots for bots, with humans merely consuming the noise. On the other hand, OpenAI offers a solution with #WorldId or #WorldCoin, an iris-scanning identification system that verifies one's humanity. When the web eventually will become a logged-in only system, this technology will help to eliminate bots and allow real humans to identify and interact between themselves.
Why AI (marketing name) companies hate humans so much?

Support ticket arrives asking how to do something.
Something is vague, when asked for clarification, user posts detailed list of instructions that point to a bunch of non existent features.
Asks the user where they got the instructions...
"For all their promise, these tools are still … janky. At the start of the AI boom, there were plenty of train wrecks—Bing’s chatbot telling a tech columnist to leave his wife, ChatGPT espousing overt racism—but these were plausibly passed off as early-stage bugs. Today, though the overall quality of generative-AI products has improved dramatically, subtle errors persist: the wrong date, incorrect math, fake books and quotes. Google Search now bombards users with AI overviews above the actual search results or a reliable Wikipedia snippet; these occasionally include such errors, a problem that Google warns about in a disclaimer beneath each overview. Facebook, Instagram, and X are awash with bots and AI-generated slop. Amazon is stuffed with AI-generated scam products. Digital services and products were, of course, never perfect. Google Search already has lots of unhelpful advertisements, while social-media algorithms have amplified radicalizing misinformation. But as basic services for finding information or connecting with friends, until recently, they worked. Meanwhile, the chatbots being deployed as fixes to the old web’s failings—Google’s rush to overhaul Search with AI, Mark Zuckerberg’s absurd statement that AI can replace human friends, Elon Musk’s suggestion that his Grok chatbot can combat misinformation on X—are only exacerbating those problems while also introducing entirely new sorts of malfunctions and disasters. More important, the extent of the AI industry’s new ambitions—to rewire not just the web, but also the economy, education, and even the workings of government with a single technology—magnifies any flaw to the same scale."

The core appeal of AI is supposed to be "no skills required".
If AI truly becomes as good as they claim, it would be impossible to be left behind, you'd just casually pick up a chatbot and tell it to do a thing and there you go.
Almost like it's a bullshit marketing cope.
I caught this article in multiple news feeds; it looks like AI hallucinated a story about a Rust-based init system being released by Arch. It is, to the best of anyone's knowledge, complete and utter bullshit.
