I dropped #Vincenzo and #TaxiDriver when I was quite well into them, so my tolerance for fighting and gore isn't that high.
However, I completed #DearHongrang and #AKillerParadox, so it's dependent on mood and how the story/acting strikes me.
@whoosh and I are currently watching and loving #NinePuzzles. It's quite cerebral, which Paradox was, as well. And, #SonSukku!

01 Feb: Most memorable use of sound.

You've all seen the visual tricks with lighting & focus to indicate thoughts or feelings or a time change or.....

"A Killer Paradox" was the 1st drama where this was really evident with sound for me.

The soundtrack is appropriate & super effective, & the sound FX are spot on & heighten the intensity or emotions.

But in some scenes, we hear *everything* - the click of the lighter, the inhale, the exhale, the wrinkle of clothing as someone turns - each sound is crisp & clear & changes the feeling of that scene from the normal sound levels - and it really puts you on edge.

The attention to detail is amazing!

Day 27: a 2024 drama that too few people watched

Hmm, I feel like there are quite a few but I think that this can stem from 3 variables:

Not everyone is streaming dramas from the same sites.

Even if the site is the same, sometimes the person's country of origin does not carry said drama.

Different people have different preferences and someone who prefers romcoms may not want to watch something leaning towards the supernatural.

Having said that , I will say

Pretty decent reviews, interesting premise, good cast and at 8 episodes, one could binge it in a weekend.

But I also love #SonSukKu in #MyLiberationNotes and #AKillerParadox and #DP. I forgot that he was also in #designatedsurvivor60days but he was also stunning in that.

Haha, #AKillerParadox is definitely a palate-cleanser when you're stuck on too much romance. I found it interesting that it seemed to be loosely based on Crime & Punishment by Dostoevsky, which I found pretty gripping in high school. The show snapped, really. @whoosh and I joint-watched it, as well as #AShopForKillers another fast-paced violent show that had no filler in it.

It was popular. I haven't watched it yet. #AShopForKillers and #AKillerParadox were both way more action than I typically like but they were both so skillfully done and really unique.

Initially, when I looked at D=, Snowdrop was one of the only k-dramas that they had but they've been adding a lot to their roster over the last few months. Like you say, they're extremely bad at making good recommendations or helping their watchers to find what they want to watch. They're heavy on action/thrillers but they do an excellent job with them. Also, most series have only 10-12 shows so the action moves rapidly.

A Killer Paradox
(2024 - Netflix, 8 0:54 eps)

A work of art that takes us for a wild ride. The novel, "Crime & Punishment," is featured & clues us into the origin & story. The nihilistic ML accidentally commits a murder. We witness his mental deterioration as he struggles with guilt from the delayed justice - harkening back to the novel. What is justice? What is an appropriate punishment? Is he a superhero who is uniquely qualified to dispense justice?

Definitely a thriller with surprises everywhere & great use of symbolism. Only 4 great-fitting tracks on OST & the background music & sound effects are sublime, adding so much to the drama. Fast & tight with only 8 eps. Because we are witnessing the mental breakdown of the ML, some scenes are confusing. Is it reality or not? The acting is phenomenal.

#kdrama I'm not going to proceed further with #chickennugget & I'm still rewatching #hometownchachacha - I may just concentrate on that as we move through Spring & Easter. I've also got loads of reading to do... As I'm undecided where I should go next, not #akillerparadox I don't think?

Despite having just finished a pretty violent KDrama I decided to watch A Killer Paradox. There wasn’t as much violence and it was pretty good. I think whatever I choose to watch needs to be lighthearted so send your recommendations my way! 😂 #KDrama #AKillerParadox

Watching #AKillerParadox rewatch. These 8 episodes go fast and pack a lot in. I don’t love it but it’s very interesting.

#MyHappyEnding is excellent suspense. Keeps you guessing. #JangNaRa is a great actor. 2 final episodes this weekend.

#MyLiberationNotes made it to the top of my list. Excellent drama about 3 adult siblings trying to find their own version of independence.

@JillsJoy oh no! I have it on my watchlist but this is a major red flag for me. I won't watch it.

I am amused the Korean title for #kdrama #AKillerParadox is 살인장난감 and translates to "murder toy".

The main detective's name is 장난감: the word for "toy."

It gave me "Ocean's Eleven" x "Snatch" vibes.

As entertaining of a show as this is, with a mess of murderers and murderer murderers, I am disappointed by how sexist it is. Women are merely side characters, if that. Just there for sex and murder, and never interacted with as real-life human beings, equivalent to the men.

My watch of "Fated to Love You" was a palate cleanser.

Now @EllenInEdmonton has pulled me into "A Killer Paradox" - more blood & gore!! But the 1st episode was great.
