In case it wasn’t clear… while I did think the new BOM website is crap, I was mostly mad at the shitty results the APS gets when it outsources work to the consultancy firms.

20 years ago the govt departments had in-house IT capability. I don’t think it’s a silver bullet, but if they fixed the role definitions so they could pay at market rates for IT staff, they could build and retain an effective IT workforce.

(For anyone not familiar with the problem, IT staff have to move into the ‘Executive Levels’ to get paid at market rates. And then the APS gets shitty that they have teams full of EL1s.)

The whole Australian Public Service #APS is tarred with the #RoboDebt illegalities.

And here again we've got public servants deliberately doing harm to the public's interest.

Seeking harsh action against someone acting for the public's interest is not the way for any section of the APS to regain credilibility.

I don't know, maybe #RoboDebt, years of #AgeCareQualityAndSafetyCommission failures, the on-going deaths linked to the (perhaps unlawful) cutting off of benefits, the decades of abuse of children in government care, a public service in which PS lawyers find themselves bullied into participation in unlawful acts, a PS which says "Yes sir, how high?" instead of providing info on limits, really is a dangerous thing, something better not emulated?
