I also thought what Dale Steyn said about the South Africans and the lack of swing bowling was interesting. I was a batter when playing #cricket and don't know so much about bowling. I find Copeland's excerpts in the coverage very informative and enjoyed listening to Dale Steyne.

Steyn said that the South Africans were influenced too much by 20/20 in their bowling. Apparently 20/20 favours bowling with a scrambled seam in order to limit batsmen. When attempting swing bowling with a straight seam in test cricket, the lack of practice of this form of bowling leads the bowlers to pitch the ball incorrectly. They give up and go back to 20/20 form.

Fascinating interview of retired South African bowler Dale Steyn today. He looked almost hippy and talked about his love of surfing. On the field he looked aggressive and up-tight. He explained that this was a persona he adopted and it was quite the opposite of who he is. He adopted a persona on field because he saw how effective Shane Warne's on-field persona was in his success even if the wicket was not helping him.
