First Bus was named Scotland’s Public Transport Operator of the Year 2025 at the #Scottish #Transport Awards in Glasgow. The award recognises First Bus’s strong performance across Greater #Glasgow and #Aberdeen, where it completed over 96.5 million passenger journeys, growing year-on-year. The operator was praised for improving customer experience, reducing journey times, and boosting reliability. First Bus’s commitment to sustainability was highlighted, with over 270 zero-emission buses operating and a goal to run a fully zero-emission fleet by 2035. The company also extended its electric charging infrastructure to support other businesses. First Bus won a second award for Excellence in Technology and Innovation, for AI-driven timetables that have improved punctuality by over 30% on some routes. Managing Director Duncan Cameron credited the award to the dedication of First Bus staff.

#Interrail day 6/7b: to #Aberdeen I chose reservation-free trains. The #RailPlanner app signed the following #LNER connection as not reservation-free, but when I wanted to make the reservation at #RailEurope they said it’s free (and thus wouldn’t sell). LNER‘s chatbot also stated that a reservation is not mandatory so I just entered the #train and found the best places you can get 😊

The only green / unreserved seats were the four on the right and the last one on the left in the coach for disabled people, directly at the kitchen’s door 😋

#Interrail day 6/7: from #Nottingham with #Northern to #Sheffield, with #CrossCountry to #Edinburgh, with #ScotRail to #Aberdeen, and then with #LNER to #London #KingsCross.
Especially the leg in #Scotland is absolutely breathtaking, and the first class service of LNER is comparable to business class flights (I didn’t even have a reservation) 😳

I think this will be my #1 tour for a long time ♥️

It looks like the question of what the longest street in Glasgow (and indeed all of Scotland) is has been settled once and for all. Well, according to this plaque I came across today on the corner of Argyle Street and St Vincent Street at any rate. However, something tells me it isn't an official one. 😀

A not-completely-serious plaque identifying Argyle Street in the west of Glaagow as the longest street in Scotland.

Wir kannten schon den Chanonry Point, eine kleine Landspitze nahe Inverness, von der aus man bei Flut regelmäßig Delfine sehen kann. Aber noch besser war es gestern Abend an der Hafeneinfahrt von Aberdeen. So viele Individuen – Große Tümmler vor allem, aber auch Schweinswale – die dort über mehrere Stunden schwammen, tollten und sprangen. Man sitzt einfach etwas erhöht im Gras und genießt die Show. Wundervoll.
