@mpjgregoire @dandrezner I suppose it makes sense. The US was supposed to be the main superpower that would facilitate a global system of trade rules via the World Trade Organization. Before the Gaza War broke out, the US, Saudi Arabia, and Israel were about to enter a new regional agreement for economic trade in the region, and the Palestinians were not given any thought in the arrangement.

After years of Israel’s punishing bombings on Gaza, even Saudi Arabia would find it difficult to return to the negotiating table without raising serious frustration from its own citizens.

Now that the US has run illegal tariffs, throwing the existing WTO system on its head, allies and enemies alike must readjust their market outlooks with the assumption that the US was no longer going to cooperate to a global system of free trade that it helped establish.

For the coup de gras, the US has been outmaneuvered on the global stage by its proxy in Israel. Basically, ensnaring the former superpower into investing billions of dollars, and its limited military resources into the Middle East on a dead end. Perhaps facing back to back embarrassments both domestically and internationally, there’s no where to go from there other than to break down the American republic itself to extend the run on power for as long as possible.

Enter Dictator Trump.

The UCP Cabinet quietly moved 288 communications staffers and the budget of $38 million to report directly to the Premier.

The public affairs bureau has always at least tried to appear as though they were not under the political control of whatever government was in power.

That is officially no longer the case. They are openly declaring it to be partisan.
