a composition with the bottom ⅔ being mostly dark, with one narrow vertical triangle lit in pale yellow. Its bottom half is distorted with ripples, and a ladder-like form is overlaid. The top third is a nighttime scene with safety railings, a life-saving hoop in red and yellow on a pole, and in the background, empty glass-fronted buildings lit with fluorescent light. There are other rippled yellow streaks at the bottom. Interpreting this as a scene makes the rectangle a ladder descending into dark water in an artificial waterway, like the new locks at Slussen in Stockholm.

I was actually trying to take a picture of a Basil leaf and I had an LED light under it and well, I failed... 😂 no leaf picture. However, when the camera was out of focus it made a cool, abstract pattern with the bulbs! ✨

This is an abstract black and white photo in landscape format of a row of three sets of windows left standing on a demolition site. To Kwa Wan, Hong Kong (2017).

In the centre of the image is the row of windows, left standing on the first floor with nothing in view beyond. The windows are set in a thick concrete, weathered and decaying rectangular frame. Each set of the windows is rectangular with two arranged vertically next to each other, with the third set horizontally above the lower two. This pattern is repeated in all three set of windows. The centre two vertical windows are open. Above the windows is a thick concrete lintel with a metal railing stretching across its length: suggesting it might have been a balcony. At each end of the railing is a small amount of wild vegetaion growing. Surrounding this scene is a white background, devoid of any detail, suggesting an overcast sky.

Street Style
As one of the most popular genres, street photography comes in many different styles or sub-genres.
I'll end this series with probably my favourite style, Street: Abstracts.
I am comfortable photographing strangers but not everyone is, and in some countries it is even illegal.
Freed from that pressure, the abstract street photographer becomes absorbed in the colours, textures, patterns, reflections, light and shapes of the city.

This is a black and white photo in landscape format of the nose section of a DC-3 aircraft repainted in a contempory street-art style. Tucson, Arizona (2013).

Reaching out across the image from the left margin to the centre is the forward fuselage section from the cockpit to the nose, of an old DC-3 (Douglas Dakota of World War Two vintage) aircraft. The plane has been repainted and rendered into black and white and has a white background with the artwork in sprayed in finely defined black or tones of grey. The art is somewhat abstract to me, though a number of fish heads can be seen as can a few snake like serpents, some with scales. Forward of the nose, below and above is an ink black, clear and cloudless sky.

This aircraft and a few others were part of a display of planes repurposed as an 'alternative art gallery' at the Pima Air & Space Museum in Tucson, Arizona.
