Wer war Ada?

Ada Lovelace war eine bedeutende Persönlichkeit in der Geschichte der Informatik. Unser Roboter Ada ist nach ihr benannt. Sie lebte von 1815 bis 1852 in England. Ihr Vater war der bekannte Dichter Lord Byron, den sie jedoch nie kennenlernte. Ihre Mutter sorgte dafür, dass Ada eine umfassende Ausbildung erhielt. Da ihre Mutter selbst an Mathematik und Astronomie interessiert war, ermöglichte sie Ada, sich intensiv mit Naturwissenschaften und Mathematik zu beschäftigen.

Im Rahmen ihrer Bildungsreisen lernte Ada den Mathematiker, Philosophen und Erfinder Charles Babbage kennen. Dieser arbeitete an einer universellen Rechenmaschine, der sogenannten "Analytical Engine". Ada erkannte das wahre Potenzial der Maschine und entwickelte weitere Ideen zu ihrem Einsatz sowie passende Programmierungen. Obwohl Babbage bereits vorher einige Programme für die Maschine geschrieben hatte, wird Ada aufgrund ihrer vielfältigen Ideen und umfangreichen Ergänzungen zur Beschreibung des Projekts gerne als erste Programmiererin der Welt bezeichnet. Dies war vor allem deshalb eine unglaubliche Leistung, weil Babbages "Analytical Engine" zu ihren Lebzeiten nie gebaut wurde.

In ihren Ergänzungen zur Beschreibung der Maschine finden sich bereits erste Gedanken zum Thema "Künstliche Intelligenz", womit sie ihrer Zeit offensichtlich weit voraus war.

In Kürze veröffentlichen wir ein Materialpaket zum Thema Coding und Robotik. Das Paket richtet sich an Lehrkräfte der 3.-6. Klassen, also an alle Grundschulen und Sekundarstufen mit Primarstufe.

Der kleine Roboter Ada ist mit seinem Raumschiff abgestürzt und lädt Ihre Lerngruppe ein, gemeinsam das Abenteuer zu bestehen, das Schiff wieder flott zu machen. Im Rahmen dieser Hintergrundgeschichte (Storytelling) lernen die Schüler*innen spielerisch die Welt des Codings und der Robotik kennen. Das enthaltene Lernkartenset fungiert hierbei als Rahmenhandlung und ermöglicht die Differenzierung nach verschiedenen Wissensständen.

Das Begleitheft enthält alles an Hintergrundwissen, Arbeitsblättern, Vorlagen und Lösungsseiten, um das gesamte Abenteuer zu bestehen. Das Materialpaket ist hierbei für alle Lehrkräfte geeignet, es sind keine Informatik-Kenntnisse erforderlich, nur Neugier auf Neues!

Great book! 👍 Here's the hardback over art.

Note to the curious... the first few pages are a very jocular but accurate depiction of Ada's origin, upbringing, and influences (a great way to learn her story). The remainder is a mash-up of historical figures like #GeorgeEliot, #steampunk fantasy (all on the mark), & early #information_science.

It is a wild and rewarding ride!
