I have a moral dilemma. Or maybe a social moral dilemma?
So I occasionally buy my dog wet food, we use it as a reinforcer. It's not his main source of food.
Yesterday I opened a can, and the smell didn't sit right with me. I looked at the expiration date and it was indeed expired.
I have purchased it on 04/08/24, this month and the expiration date was 01/030/24, so 5 months earlier. It was picked up from a physical store.
It does raise the question, do they actually check these... And if they do, is it actually possible it was missed multiple times, as this should be checked monthly.
I didn't make it to the store yesterday, but was able to visit it today.
And there were 4 cans that were expired even longer, till 08/12/23! I informed the staff and they picked up some expired ones but not all of them.
With such a long expiry it shows that they indeed do not check these...
At the same time when I have picked up other random wet food can these were all fine. So maybe it is intended as they want to get rid of these specific ones? Can't say...
I have pictures and I will complain officially, but customers should know. So I am thinking this should go public so no dog gets poisoned, especially that this is puppy food.
I expect it will be put on employees, who I do not blame and definitely should not be...
Any advice what shall I do?
