TIL that #ASUS's #AiMesh system is crap. (Actually, that was yesterday.)
See... I have a problem. My walls are thick. My building was build circa-ish WWII. When I work in my office, the signal is degraded.
Note that all of this would be solved if my apartment were properly wired to bring the Internet to the office and the living room... but one can only dream. :hide_the_pain_harold:
So I figured I'd just whip out a new node and set my router to use AiMesh.
I did this, and nothing connects to the new node.
:headache:
I change this setting and that setting, and nothing wants to connect to the new node.
I have a Google Mini sitting literally feet away from the new node, and it is like the fucking new node has gonorrhea or something.
"Haha! You idiot! Everybody knows that AiMesh cannot work! Lolfart!"
But it did work! At the marital house that I shared with my ex-wife. We had a central fireplace with chimney that completely messed up the Wi-Fi. I just installed a new node to the mesh and it worked.

Bit the bullet and upgraded our home/home office wifi this afternoon. Swapped out our elderly Arlo system for a shiny new #AiMesh #wifi6 arrangement. Some excitement getting the Ethernet backhaul working but now, hopefully, working properly. We’ll see…
(Our multi-storey house is solid German construction made of wifi-resistant steel-reinforced concrete. It routinely defeats hammer drill bits. Wireless internet solutions need to be, shall we say, robust.)
