Ok. Time to get off politics & cleanse my timeline onto other things for a while at least. More photos from my walk yesterday where it connected with the Yindyamarra Sculpture Walk. These 3 were my favourites. #RiverWalk #Albury.

I set of three metal sculptures of Australian Kookaburras, the middle has its beak open, wings outstretched with the two on the sides looking on. They sit on a sandy area surrounded my native grasses with eucalyptus trees behind. In front of native bush & a eucalyptus tree is a rectangular metal sculpture with cutouts. Central is a large bird with very long legs going into water, to the right of the legs is a turtle & to the left a fish, underneath is what I think is wetland plants. I believe the top cutouts are five hands over all.I love this one. This is a shiny metal shield with a darker edge & has cutouts of the sun. Down the middle is a figure one side light, the other side dark with a wavy edge all the way through to the foot area. Each arm reaching down with the hands slightly tipped up.

The MAMA art gallery in Albury–Wodonga currently has an exhibition titled "Hold the world to its word". It's a timely look at what happens when promises, especially from authorities, aren't kept. #art #travel #albury #nsw

The exhibition includes works from Matthew Harris (an Aboriginal artist originally from Wangaratta who now lives in Melbourne), Hode Afshar, and Wiradjuri/Kamilaroi photographer Michael Riley.
The first of a series of grey on black paintings by Matthew Harris depicting a sacred rock formation called Yeddonba near Wangaratta, titled "I know alone". Here, the formation is depicted as a single flat coloured silver semicircle shape that reaches towards the top left of the black canvas. The first of a series of grey on black paintings by Matthew Harris depicting a sacred rock formation called Yeddonba near Wangaratta, titled "Just us two". Going for a stroll around Albury–Wodonga, along the Murray, through the gardens, and around town. #travel #Albury #NSW #Murray

Nothing much was open in #Albury as it was Nee Years Day. We left the city and drove over 400kms heading generally west down the Murray Valley Highway.

The land is very flat and the sun shining. The highway has a lot of very straight stretches with bends when Farm boundaries intrude into the path of the highway.

As I was driving I couldn't take photos but the following one gives you a bit of a sense of the scenery: flic.kr/p/e7oQpU

However, at this time of the year most of the harvesting had been done so the fields were filled with golden stubble and tall stacks of rectangular bales of hay dotted the landscape.

This morning we woke up in our cheap hotel in #Albury. We decided to stock up on food before we left so we shopped at the largest Harris Farm shopnI have ever seen. Harris Farm are a fresh food retailer that also have delicatessen items. The one in Albury even has regular meat. It is a huge barn of a place that is approaching supermarket size but nearly half the floor space is dedicated to fresh fruit and vegetables - yum

In the front is this giant apple character. Just before I took this photo, 2 young boys had fun turning the wheel at the bottom to make the legs, arms and mouth move.

Above a shelf laden with punnet of berries is a giant red apple character with red lips and an open mouth showing teeth. It has 2 small spindly legs coming out each side of the chin. At the end of each leg is a green roller skate. It has spindly red arms and hands coming out of each side of its head and blue eyes.

Today we went with our #Albury friends to do some berry picking at a farm near Stanley which is near #Beechworth. It is perfect weather here and we had a lovely wander chatting and picking berries.

Looking down an aisle of berry plants. A man is picking berries. The sky is blue.

We arrived in #Albury after 11am and went straight to Service NSW so I could renew my NSW Working with Children Check. There was no queue. Last night I had done the online steps and I had brought all my ID. It was all processed and we were back in the car by 11:30am!

Service NSW is a fantastic service. I wish that Victoria had the same service.

This morning we drove from Melbourne to #albury. On the way we stopped at my favourite rest stop Mokoan which is the 1st rest stop after the main Benalla turnoff.

This sign is at the rest stop. The idea is that you should be able to see the Winton Wetlands through the hole in the sign. I could see sky. At any rate, I don't know why they bothered with the hole. All you needed to do is step to the side of the sign and see the wetlands.

#HumeHighway

A large rectangular sign that says Winton Wetlands in large letters at the top. The 'O' in Winton has been replaced by a large rectangular hole.

Amongst the writing on the sign is a URL which says www.wintonwetlands.org.au
