Also, the other day I discovered livecoded #splittercore. It's as simple as setting your bpm (or 'cps' values) or your rhythm divider to some ridiculously high number in #TidalCycles and voilà: magnificient, unlistenable bursts of sound.

he picked it up crazyyy fast – i feel like the most efficient way to teach someone with a background in music is to ask them what sound they want to get out of the software and then show (or figure out) how to do that with code

You haven’t had enough computer music?

After the blasting night in C2 Ost, TOPLAP Karlsruhe invited Renick Bell as guest to bring another night of club-oriented computer music in AKK.

“Renick Bell is one of [the algorave] scene’s more flabbergasting producers,” writes Mixmag magazine. Resident Advisor calls him “Algorave kingpin” and writes that he “is one of the leading figures of the algorave movement, and watching him make his music is just as fun as dancing to it.” He is researching live coding, improvisation, and algorithmic composition using open source software. He is the author of Conductive, a library for live coding in the Haskell programming language.

I think I'm a code-jay
I like sitting at home jamming away, spending time tweaking things, able to think straight.
From-scratch is great and I'll always attempt that on occasion, but I'm happy to regurgitate code from recent sessions and not really write much on stage.
I love performance, but for now there is still too much adrenaline to be able to function clearly and keep track of what I'm doing.
Maybe these two things will meet in the middle and also I've very much against the idea of 'polished' code.

For me this is analogous to how I would write music for guitar and play it back. Or program an Akai MPC and mix the loops live with dubsiren.
I guess that would be live-arranging?

Interestingly I made Syntə with the intention of it being a 'live only' platform, I love the idea of that. I just find it hard to do code when I'm excited or with various levels of exhaustion.
