Today, there is important news from the Pokrovsk direction.
Here, Ukrainians are targeting all the major and minor ammunition depots from Donetsk city, all the way to the frontline at Pokrovsk. With shortages of ammunition for Russian soldiers fighting on the contact line, Ukrainian units are able to expertly exploit these weaknesses and take the initiative.
Ukrainian strikes have crippled Russian supplies of weapons in the Pokrovsk direction, with multiple confirmed hits against key ammunition depots throughout the region. In Donetsk, a series of massive explosions rocked the city after Ukrainian long-range drones penetrated Russian defenses. Air defense systems were active beforehand with smoke trails visible in the sky, but they failed to intercept the incoming strikes. Footage from Russian soldiers captured the true scale of the destruction, with thick black smoke rising above a facility, followed by a colossal explosion that sent shockwaves through the area, knocking down the soldier who was filming. Secondary blasts continued for hours, clear evidence of hundreds of tons of ammunition igniting and cooking off. In at least two different parts of Donetsk, separate plumes of smoke confirmed that multiple storage sites had been struck, leaving no doubt that Ukrainian intelligence and precision targeting had hit their mark.
Selydove was not spared either, and another geolocated video taken by Russian personnel showed a local base and warehouse engulfed in flames with ammunition exploding uncontrollably. In the background, a shaken soldier muttered that hell has broken loose, summing up the chaos that unfolded as the depot erupted. Selydove has long been used as a central logistics hub due to its size and relative concealment opportunities for Russian soldiers in the Pokrovsk direction. Now it has become a death trap for Russian stockpiles due to its proximity to the frontline of around 20 kilometers. Ukrainian forces struck precisely, underscoring that there are no secure places in the Pokrovsk rear, despite the Russian command believing they had relative safety due to the available buildings.
The Donetsk–Yasynuvata–Horlivka rail triangle, combined with the Avdiivka–Ocheretyne road corridor, has always been the lifeline for Russia’s offensive toward Pokrovsk. By hitting depots within this network, Ukrainian units force Russia to disperse munitions into smaller caches and rely on last-minute convoys that are far easier to intercept. With Selydove now burning, Russia has no safe ammunition hub south of Pokrovsk, meaning supplies must take longer, more fuel-intensive routes, often through poor road conditions, and exposed to drones and artillery. Every strike on Yasynuvata or Donetsk is immediately felt on the frontlines due to immediate rationing of shells, weaker counterbattery fire, along with slower and less coordinated assaults. Ukrainian drones which are constantly scanning the area direct fire on convoys, repair depots, and ammunition caches, ensuring that Russia’s logistic flow remains fragile as supplies are rerouted.
This vulnerability directly translates into opportunities for the Ukrainians on the battlefield. When Russian units cannot sustain sufficient fire support, Ukrainian troops gain windows to rotate, reinforce, or counterattack with less risk. Analysts estimate that the recent strikes in Donetsk alone destroyed several hundred tons of shells, a loss that cannot be quickly replenished given Russia’s already stretched industrial base and vulnerable supply chain. These disruptions mirror earlier Ukrainian successes on Pokrovsk’s southern flank during the spring and summer, where Russian forces were starved of not only ammunition but even food and water, causing a collapse after weeks of futile assaults. Now, on the northeastern flank near Dobropillia, Russian units find themselves in the same position, and every passing day without resupply weakens their foothold and makes them easier prey for Ukrainian counterattacks.
Overall, the recent strikes on Donetsk and Selydove are not isolated incidents but part of a sustained Ukrainian campaign. The Ukrainian tactic is simple but brutally effective: destroy the depots, force dispersal, harass convoys, and let the frontlines dry out. Even when Russian forces managed to achieve a breakthrough towards Dobropillia, these gains collapsed within days because their logistics network could not sustain them. Ukrainian defenders, reinforced and well supplied, pushed back, cleared villages, and reclaimed swathes of territory, while Russian soldiers were left undersupplied, demoralized, and vulnerable. With ammunition depot destroyed, the balance shifts further in favor of the Ukrainians and allows them to strike back."

Let’s not pretend it’s new. People wrote messages on ammo for 1000s of years, often inside jokes. “…actual projectiles used in slings & slingshots…have funny little messages carved into them…like ‘Catch!’ But…carved 300…years before Jesus was born.” #USpol #Utah #shooter #ammo

Let’s not pretend this is all new. People have written funny/cryptic message on ammo for thousands of years, and the meanings are often inside jokes.

“But the British museum has sling shot, the actual projectiles used in slings and slingshots, that have funny little messages carved into them. Messages like ‘Catch!’ But, you know, the messages are written in Ancient Greek because they were carved 300 or so years before Jesus was born.”

Ok y'all...the story on the #ammo that theoretically killed #kirk keeps changing.

First the #WallStreetJournal reported that there was "#trans ideology" engraved on the bullets. You know what that was? "#TRN," a stamp found on ammunition produced by #Turan.

Then, Utah Gov. Spencer #Cox said investigators found one fired and three unfired bullet casings.

According to Cox, the single fired bullet casing read, "Notices bulges OWO what's this?" Three unfired bullet casings read, "Hey fascist! Catch!" with an up arrow, a right arrow and three down arrows, "Oh bella ciao, bella ciao, ciao, ciao" and "If you read this you are gay LMAO."

Y'all, not for nothing, but the casing for a .30.06 is 2.4" or 63mm from tip to base. That's not a lot of room to write all that, just sayin.

That the kid is an meming edgelord tho? That tracks.

"Donbas Offensive Halted! 110,000 Russian Troops Left WITH NO AMMO! | RFU News" [5:41 min]

Here, the Ukrainian armed forces destroyed a massive Russian central ammunition depot, filled to the brim with missiles and rockets. Destroying tons of Russian ammunition in one fell swoop, Ukrainians have massively decreased Russian fire support, and opened the skies for Ukrainian jets to conduct devastating air strikes on the largest Russian forces concentration seen since the start of the war.
The Ukrainian Security Service, coordinating closely with other units, used the first dark hours of the evening to deliver a devastating strike on a key Russian ammunition depot in the town of Khartsyzk near Donetsk. Precision-guided kamikaze strike drones successfully penetrated Russian air defenses, with the explosion triggering a massive detonation that rocked the surrounding area. Eyewitnesses reported enormous fireballs illuminating the night sky, accompanied by continuous, powerful explosions that could be heard and felt kilometers away. Based on the intensity, look, and sound of these explosions, the depot likely contained thousands of tons of ammunition for multiple-launch rocket systems and surface-to-air missiles, all meticulously stockpiled for Russia’s imminent summer offensive.
This massive blow comes at a critical moment, significantly undermining Russian preparations for their enormous planned offensive operation toward Pokrovsk. Russian forces have concentrated approximately 110,000 troops under the 8th Combined Arms Army, tasked with spearheading assaults in the area spanning from Velyka Novosilka to Pokrovsk. Highlighting the strategic importance of this area, as you might remember, the commander of the 8th Combined Arms Army, Ruslan Goryachkin, was previously killed by a targeted Storm Shadow missile strike only a week before. Clearly, minor media victories and photo shoots in the Dnipropetrovsk Region are not what the over 110,000 soldiers are for, with Pokrovsk being the primary target for the Russian summer offensive.
Facing such an overwhelming enemy concentration, the Ukrainian armed forces stand before the immense challenge of neutralizing more than a hundred thousand Russian soldiers in a short period of time. Consequently, Ukraine is looking for a more achievable solution and is strategically focusing on undermining Russian assaults before they even commence, making them inconsistent, weak, and therefore as manageable as possible. Targeting central ammunition depots, such as the one in Khartsyzk, critically disrupts the Russian logistics chain. These large depots typically receive their ammunition deliveries by train, creating a crucial vulnerability. Ukrainian cyberattacks have penetrated Russian railway systems, enabling near real time tracking of supply movements. Often, just minutes after Russian trains unload munitions at these centralized depots, Ukrainian drones, and precision missile strikes annihilate the freshly delivered stockpiles.
From major depots, ammunition must then travel to front-line units by truck, exposing another vulnerability. Russia frequently employs sizable convoys for these transfers, making them conspicuous and highly vulnerable to detection and subsequent precision strikes from HIMARS and drones. However, Ukrainian reconnaissance sometimes adopts a more sophisticated approach. Intelligence and resistance groups occasionally let ammunition deliveries pass unharmed, tracking their movement back to larger hidden bases, thus identifying high-value targets for big strikes that destroy a much larger quantity of supplies.
The recent Khartsyzk strike has a profound impact on Russian combat capabilities. Specifically, the destruction of multiple rocket launch system ammunition significantly reduces available artillery fire support for Russian ground assaults. Simultaneously, obliterating large stocks of surface-to-air missiles weakens Russian air defenses, thereby providing the Ukrainian Air Force with increased operational freedom for its jets and helicopters. These developments directly benefit Ukrainian defenders, substantially reducing threats and exposing advancing Russian infantry and mechanized units, now lacking sufficient fire and air-defense support.
Overall, as Russia’s forces gather in record numbers, determined to finally capture the vital town of Pokrovsk, Ukrainian defenders must remain exceptionally creative. Carefully selecting targets such as senior commanders, logistical hubs, and large ammunition depots is critical to degrading Russian operational strength. These deliberate strikes force Russian commanders into launching premature, ill-prepared offensives, turning their numerically superior forces into vulnerable targets easily exploited by battle-hardened Ukrainian troops. Ultimately, Ukraine’s...

Like any technology, it’s a race: UK’s largest #ammo maker rebooting chemistry to break NATO’s dependence on #explosives imports

#BAE is hastening to fill the demand that #Russia’s #invasion of #Ukraine has created for armaments both in Ukraine and elsewhere

Its U.K. branch is, however, unique in banking on a new chemical process that moves away from a key import entirely — and may well be the template for Ukraine to make more explosives of its own.
