I have always envisioned a union operating autonomously from capitalist structures, organized horizontally without hierarchical authority, embodying direct workers’ self-management and solidarity, aimed at dismantling hierarchical power and creating a society structured around the needs and capacities of people rather than profit.
Just because the educational work of Anarcho-Syndicalists is directed toward the development of independent thought and action, they are outspoken opponents of all centralising tendencies which are so characteristic of most of the present labour parties.
Centralism, that artificial scheme which operates from the top towards the bottom and turns over the affairs of administration to a small minority, is always attended by barren official routine; it crushes individual conviction, kills all personal initiative by lifeless discipline and bureaucratic ossification. For the state, centralism is the appropriate form of organisation, since it aims at the greatest possible uniformity of social life for the maintenance of political and social equilibrium.
But for a movement whose very existence depends on prompt action at any favourable moment and on the independent thought of its supporters, centralism is a curse which weakens its power of decision and systematically represses every spontaneous initiative.

I took down one of my Moomin posters and hung up my two favorite flags in my living room instead. It feels good making my own place look like me.
I'm not going to hide who I am just to make someone else comfortable, and I don’t find happiness in the categories of man or woman, and some people struggle to understand that my joy comes from living authentically beyond those boundaries.
I could choose to hide myself and abandon what I believe in and love, living a life without integrity. But as Rocker argued, even the family can act as a disciplinary institution, enforcing conformity to social and ideological norms people never consented to.

@SteveClough @patrickhadfield Many politicians who deem sensible progressive governing strategies and programs “undeliverable” don’t have the skills to carry them out, and seem to be uninterested in developing those skills. Such people prefer to spend their energies on increasing personal power. Interconnectivity, civic engagement and empathic patience can engage communities to solve our own governance puzzles.
