𝗣𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (𝗘𝗻𝗴): A female mallard on a rock in the shade preens her feathers with her beak. We can't see the water, but we can see the reflections on her body, creating a colorful light.

𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗶𝗽𝗰𝗶𝗼́𝗻 (𝗘𝘀𝗽): Una hembra de ánade real sobre una roca, a la sombra, se acicala las plumas con el pico. No vemos el agua, pero sí los reflejos que dan en su cuerpo, consiguiendo una iluminación colorida.

I had an interesting experience capturing images of various birds at the bay level of the Ocean City Welcome Centre. Before Bhavna and I left the welcome centre, I photographed a trio of Mallard ducks (Anas platyrhynchos) in flight over the salt marsh. For some reason, I found it easier to get in-focus flying shots of these Mallards compared to the Ibis and Egrets I had photographed earlier, even though the lighting conditions were the same. Maybe the Mallards were more cooperative, or perhaps I was just more in sync with their movements.

After photographing the adult Mallards, I stumbled upon this scene on my way back to the Welcome Center. A group of baby Mallards was exploring the ground, pecking curiously at the dirt and foliage. Their fluffy feathers and tiny, adorable movements were a heartwarming sight. I couldn’t resist capturing a few shots.

📖 Eigentlich wollte ich einen Eisvogel fotografieren. Ich hatte einen Geheimtipp bekommen. 1 Woche später war ich dann da. Leider war das Wasser so verdreckt, dass er sich wahrscheinlich einen anderen Ort gesucht hat. Zumindest hab ich keinen gesehen oder gehören. Von einer Brücke habe ich dann noch aus dem Auto ein paar Stockenten fotografiert.
ℹ️ Stockenten werden bis zu 60 cm groß und haben eine Spannweite von 95 cm. In Deutschland sind sie ganzjährig zu beobachten. Zur Ernährung gehören u.a. Beeren, Wasserpflanzen und Frösche.

📖 Actually I wanted to photograph a kingfisher. I had an insider tip. 1 week later I was there. Unfortunately the water was so dirty that he probably looked for another place. At least I did not see or hear any. From a bridge I photographed some mallards from a car.
ℹ️ Mallards grow up to 60 cm long and have a wingspan of 95 cm. In Germany they can be seen all year round. They feed on berries, water plants and frogs.
