I finished my painting of Carlo Ancelotti!
I bought paint (an "Amsterdam standard" set (acrylic) of tubes with primary colors + black + white, for just 17 euros) so I can now paint at home! Because it's holiday next week, so no class, and I wanted to finish this one (so that I can start something new the next lesson)
What I don't like:
- the features still aren't completely in the right place - next time I'll just measure stuff properly beforehand 😁
- I wanted a bigger blue <=> orange contrast than the reference photo, but I ended up just sticking to the original. So for my next painting I want to do something more abstract
What I do like
- I can really lose myself in this hobby
- the people in the painting class are very nice, I feel pretty safe there, so that's a social discovery I might be able to do more with (take more classes? find a painting club, if that exists?)
- you automatically learn all these little techniques to get the result you want, I think acrylic is very nice to work with; like how you can layer stuff, and vary with the amount of paint & water you use to get to a specific color. mixing colors is also so fun!
And I think it's not bad for a first painting! (second really but the first one was more of a quick exercise)
