"You are only able to send one [test email] per account"

is a joke! The one message I got through was flagged as spam anyway. If you are looking for an email forwarding service, avoid like hell 😬

P.S. From their FAQ: "If you have a custom domain say example.com and you are already using it for email somewhere else e.g. ProtonMail or Namecheap then you cannot also use it simultaneously with addy.io."

@cienmilojos No aliases on the free tier, but for their paid tiers you can get 15 aliases for 3EUR per month, or 30 aliases for 8EUR per month (on sale for 3eur p/m for the 1st year).

But I'm just using the free tier and using #anonaddy for aliases. I generally keep a zero inbox and only save emails for a short time if they're important. I'm using the free AnonAddy account and it has unlimited alises but has a bandwidth limit of 10MB per month. If need be, I'll purchase a paid addy account.

I just released a new @thunderbird add-on which integrates Addy.io (a.k.a. AnonAddy) directly into the Thunderbird message compose window.
Now when you're writing an email in Thunderbird and you don't want to let the recipients see your real email address, you can easily route the email through Addy to keep it private.

New Thunderbird extension: Addy.io / AnonAddy for Thunderbird

I’ve just released a new Thunderbird extension, “Addy.io / AnonAddy for Thunderbird“, which provides easy access to Addy.io functionality when composing email messages in Thunderbird. The extension mostly automates the process of replacing the recipient addresses of your messages–when you want to–with proxy email addresses that route through Addy.io, so the recipients will see an Addy.io alias for you instead of your real email address which you’re trying to keep private.

As I recently wrote, I’ve switched over to using Addy.io as much as possible when giving out my email address. I wrote this extension because I’m a heavy Thunderbird and this makes it easier for me to keep my email address private when I need to send email messages to entities I don’t want to have my real address.

The extension lives on GitHub, and you can submit issues or suggestions there. If you find this extension useful, please consider donating to support its continued development and maintenance. It takes a lot of time and effort to create and maintain Thunderbird extensions, and support is always welcome and appreciated. You can donate through Liberapay or Patreon for recurring donations, or Paypal or Venmo for one-time donations.

OK, so, I finally got to someone from #IdentityDefense on the phone, and apparently the reason why it's failing is because they can't match up the email address or phone number I gave them with what's in my #TransUnion credit report.
Note: I gave them a unique #AnonAddy email address and my Google Voice # instead of my cell #, for privacy and identity protection reasons. So, again, their site can't cope with people who are already taking steps to protect their online identities. Awesome!

I'm going to create a wiki which let people to report and share the website which block the #addy (#anonaddy) .

Are there any suggestion about the wiki hosting service?
(I am not going to host it myself)

I plan to use the github-wiki, since everyone has a github account(?), and maybe create a google form or something allow guest report website anonymous.

有人有推薦的 wiki 托管服務嗎?
想弄一個基本的讓人可以看到哪些網站已經禁止用 #addy 郵件地址的 wiki。

Case study: anonymizing email addresses for online accounts

Why you might want to anonymize the email addresses for your online accounts, some techniques for how to do that, and the details of how I did it myself, including stats, stories, and scripts.

vimeo.com/ slightly limits what your account can do until you've verified your account email address. After changing my account email address to an #AnonAddy address, I've requested a verification email three times, and none of them have arrived.
EDIT: The emails never arrived, but I opened a support ticket and their support people marked my address as verified instead of fixing the address verification problem. 🤷

This is what happened when I tried to change my email address for my #PlaystationNetwork (#PSN) account to an #AnonAddy email address. I don't know whether this is specific to AnonAddy addresses or whether the address change workflow is broken in general. 🤷 I've said it before in this thread, but it bears repeating: web sites should not be blocking people from using anonymized email addresses for security and privacy reasons.

Over at #Cisco #OpenDNS (opendns.com/), when I enter a new login email address, it says it's sending me an email message to confirm the change, and indeed it does send the email, but clicking the confirmation link doesn't work. I tested this with non-anonymized addresses, not just an #AnonAddy address, so apparently this functionality is simply broken. Way to go, Cisco!

I'm spending Yom Kippur atoning for my privacy sins by continuing to anonymize the email addresses for my accounts by changing them to #AnonAddy addresses.
Let's talk about changing your email address on #NationalGrid's billing portal.
This message incorrectly says to specify a notification email address "If you'd rather receive notifications at an email address that is different." That field is actually required: you can't submit the form without filling it in.

"My Personal Information" dialog box, with fields for name, "Sign in Email Address", and "Notification Email Address". There's a help bubble visible which says, "If you'd rather receive notifications at an email address that is different from your sign-in email, enter it here."

I debated whether to change the email addresses on my #GitHub and #GitLab accounts to #AnonAddy addresses.
These addresses aren't just used to contact me; they're also put into #Git commits. I don't want to put ugly anonymous email addresses in commits or make it hard for people to contact me about #FOSS stuff I commit.
I decided to add AnonAddy addresses to my accounts to detect if my account info is sold or leaked, while leaving my real address on the accounts too.

W00t! email aliases are not supported?! What the heck @Mastodon? What gives?

@valere hostux.ninja was no longer useful for me since some months as hostux.ninja was flagged as disposable email domain and rejected silently by some providers including Gmail. I hope this will not happen for the new service.

In any case #simplelogin even if it is open source is made by proton mail for proton, the self hosting is not truly supported.

#AnonAddy may be more open. The requirements re not light either with postfix, Reddis, MySQL, nginc ect.

Looks like #tui not only block me when I'm running my #vpn but also dislike my privacy email account as it has a .email tld (which is longer that 3 characters so apparently cannot be valid)

If it ain't .com or .net or something along those lines then so many places think you must have fat fingered it.

Good job #AnonAddy allows me to use aliases with a 'regular' tld I guess 😆

And yes, I know I've given them my name and address etc - but I want to know if people are selling my data!

... email seems a challenge as I need *unlimited aliases* for the foreseeable until I can migrate everything to *anonymous forwarding* (e.g. [], [])
