20-22 June 2025

Following an illegal extradition from Germany to Hungary and almost a year of cruel solitary confinement in Budapest, Maja, an anti-fascist from Jena, went on hunger strike on 5 June 2025. Maja is demanding to be transferred back to Germany.

The situation is acute. We must act now.

Every day of fasting increases the risk of damage to health. However, the German government and the German Foreign Office have not yet exerted any noticeable influence on the Hungarian government. It is therefore up to us to increase the pressure on them.

That is why we are calling for international days of action in solidarity with Maja on the weekend of 20 to 22 June. All over Germany and in other countries, rallies and actions should take place in front of German and Hungarian institutions and embassies and the seats of the responsible parties.

The action days take place 15 days after the start of the hunger strike. After two weeks of fasting, Maja will then already be in a critical phase. On 20 June 2025, the court in Budapest will also decide on their application to be transferred to house arrest.

Get active!

• Form action committees in your cities now and prepare actions.
• Activate your international contacts! We must build international pressure.
• Go to the embassies and consulates of Hungary and Germany.
• Organise demonstrations and creative actions in public spaces.
• Send us your calls to solikomitee-maja@systemli.org by 17 June 2025 so that we can publish all actions together.
• After your actions, publish reports, pictures and videos on Instagram in collaboration with our @free.maja account.

A few days ago riots broke out at the federal ICE detention center, Delaney Hall, in Newark, NJ. Detainees faced increasing abuse and starvation from their jailers and fought back, reportedly setting fires and knocking down an internal wall used to contain them.

At the same time, Delaney Hall was swarmed by waves of protestors who slowed operations and drew the attention of ICE and other federal pigs away from the events occurring inside.

Protestors stood their ground and prevented ICE vans from entering the facility and thinned out the number pigs helping to prevent the riot from being quelled.

During this juncture 4 men, who were kidnapped and imprisoned at Delaney Hall by ICE, were able to make their escape from the heavily fortified facility. As of now, they are still free, liberated from detention.

Because of the brave actions of the individuals detained inside Delaney Hall and the protestors outside, 4 people were able to escape and gain freedom.

It doesn’t matter how fortified the state’s prisons or detention centers may be, how many federal pigs there are, what weapons they have to brutalize people, solidarity can and will WIN.

Keep fighting, by any means necessary.

A lot of people are asking about #nextsteps and honestly I think a lot of white people like me need to talk to their #boomer #parents and tell them you expect them to be affirmatively #antiracist and #antifascist. That if their friends say some stupid shit that they should simply say, "Well, I don't believe that..." rather than just letting it pass or changing the subject uncomfortably. @pluralistic small but important correction: "Bella Ciao" is an #AntiFascist anthem, rather than a "leftist" or "communist" one as modern #fascists try to depict it to make people forget that anti-fascism (antifa!) is a foundational feature of democracy and not a partisan thing: many centrist (esp. popular Catholic) and liberal right-wing people fought fascism during WW2. Said by a non-dogmatic Marxist :)
