I am ABSOLUTELY convinced that what we're seeing are the behaviors of the original monarchs and capitalists encoded to appear as "culture" and being passed down as "tradition"…when it's all really just intergenerational trauma that helps uphold the status quo.

It's that 'Every man's home is his castle' crap, you know?

We've been so indoctrinated that we don't even know how to imagine a world WITHOUT castles anymore. We've been conditioned to dream about living in castles, instead.

Like, the original castle was about protecting a greedy, extremely anti-social, murdering warlord who fenced off the Commons and literally created poverty due to that.

And in order to make men play along, he had to promise, 'Don't worry! Yes, you'll have to obey me so that I can pointlessly keep these lands and take your riches: but I promise to make everyone in your home obey YOU. So you'll be able to feel "powerful" just like me!'

It helps to excuse all of those warlord-ish behaviors across the board… because it creates this sort of social fractal: repeating abusive/oppressive behaviors and toxic/dysfunctional interpersonal dynamics across "society", so as to smokescreen just how fucked up the beliefs and the behaviors of the owning class are.

It's why the powerful get so upset at the teaching of consent culture.

In order to keep empire going, you absolutely CANNOT honor anyone's bodily autonomy, agency, or consent.

Their power and ability to exploit is built on violent force, coercion, manipulation, misinformation, victim blaming, inauthenticity, and demonization of non-conforming behaviors.

Start creating a widely-accepted culture of consent, and the justification for their entire oligarchic, capitalist death machine unravels.

Spent Saturday at an extremely muddy #WickhamFolkFestival. Great sets by #KathrynTickellAndTheDarkening and #FishermansFriends amongst others. But the highlight for me was the fantastic #NoGoodBoyo who despite being on very early in the day and confronting a slightly confused crowd in leafy Hampshire with their #WelshIndy, #AntiMonarchy and #AntiTory tracks, still managed to get them bouncing in the end
