Today, I went to hike for a bit. Reached Pont Del Diable — ancient Roman #aqueduct located near #Tarragona, #Spain. The bridge supplied a water to the city of Tarraco, now Tarragona. 249 m length, constructed 2000 years ago

Les Ferreres Aqueduct is composed of two levels of arches: the upper section has 25 arches, and the lower one has 11.

It has a maximum height of 27 metres (89 ft) and a length of 249 metres (817 ft), including the ends where the specus (water channel) runs atop a wall.

All arches have the same diameter of 20 Roman feet (5.9m) with a variation of 15 cm. The distance between centres of the pillars is 26 Roman feet (7.95m).

A section of the #Roman Eifel #aqueduct that supplied water to the city of Cologne. The vaulted underground tunnel with an inspection shaft at Mechernich-Breitenbenden was unearthed during construction work in the late 1970s. The estimated maximum flow rate of the aqueduct was 250 litres per second. At that rate, the aqueduct would have supplied Cologne with 20 million litres of water each day!

Indeed! I well remember the days of rolls of #blackandwhite #film loaded into a #Kodak #Brownie #camera.

That gave you 8 pictures which you had to choose carefully as the whole roll would have to last a week, and you wouldn't see the results, grainy 3" x 2" prints, till after you got home and had taken the film to be developed at the local chemists shop.
