The beautiful, and surprisingly extensive, remains of Arbroath Abbey in the heart of Arbroath in Angus. The abbey was founded in 1178 by King William I for a group of Tironensian monks previously resident at Kelso Abbey. EN: On the left side of the picture, you can see the rugged cliffs, whose algae-covered stone outcrops are clearly visible at low tide. The stone arms extend towards the North Sea, which can be seen on the right side. The afternoon sun (not visible in the picture) makes the red sandstone shine particularly brightly.

DE: Auf der linken Bildseite ist die schroffe Steilküste zu sehen, deren algenbewachsenen Steinausläufer im Niedrigwasser der Ebbe gut zu sehen sind. Die steinernen Arme ragen zur Nordsee, die auf der rechten Seite zu sehen ist. Die etwas Nachmittagssonne (nicht im Bild) lässt den roten Sandstein besonders erstrahlen.

Yesterday we had the most amazing kayaking experience I've ever had. Lead by Camy from https://www.arbroathclifftours.com/ we paddled north from Arbroath Cliffs to visit a series of sea caves. Despite being a NE loon I had no idea how wonderful they were. Set in Lower ORS) sandstones (U ORS unconformity beautifully exposed!) narrow sea entrances gave access to passages and chambers with fantastic limestone speleothem / flow-stone.
