Former police barracks on Clyde Street in Glasgow. Built in a neo-classical style in 1894, it was bought by the Salvation Army in 1934 to create a women's hostel. It's now student accommodation in the 2010s.

St Andrew's Square in the East End of Glasgow. It's a little oasis of calm, with Alan Dreghorn's beautiful 1730s St Andrew's Parish Church in the middle of it.

Good morning, Glasgow. It looks like it's going to be a rather nice day, so enjoy the city, and as this sign on Buchanan Street says, don't forget to look up and appreciate the architecture!

Does anyone else dislike the recent Pixelfed mobile update as much as I do ? I liked being able to see new accounts and the ability to see what posts were trending today 🫤.

Originally, this space as occupied by a road through to King Street, known as Millar's Place. Around 1890 (when the neghbouring tenements in the photo were built), the eastern section of it was covered over with a steel truss roof and became the Saltmarket Arcade, lined with small businesses (lower map), with the rest of the street being renamed Saltmarket Place.

The building in the middle of this photograph of Saltmarket in Glasgow at first glance looks very similar to the neighbouring late 19th Century tenements, but it's actually a relatively new one designed to blend in with its surroundings.
