#ArtEveryDay is on tour for Cretan fieldwork. I'm enjoying painting little scenes from the week, although some are more rushed than others (and some more raki-affected than others).

A water colour painting depicting a small figure sitting silhouetted against a bright background. The scene is looking out a cave entrance to a bright hillside.

#ArtEveryDay is on tour! If I can get through nearly two weeks of field tripping and conferencing in South Africa and still do a bit of art each day, I'll be feeling pretty good about getting to 365. Limited palette and some charcoals, I'm excited for the challenge.

86/365

A small watercolour painting of an ibis, with a small set of watercolours (black, red, yellow, and blue) a pencil, rubber, pen, and some charcoals.

#ArtEveryDay has entered its second sketchbook!

Lately I've been enjoying gradients, mountains (natürlich) and cloudy skies (por supuesto). It's fun scrolling back through old photos and finding good memories to paint. Today's (last in this sequence) is from hiking the Greenstone-Caples loop in Aotearoa with my besty over Christmas some years ago.

Life has been kicking my but recently. What I assume is some seasonal affective disorder combined with standard ECR anxiety has resulted in fairly severe homesickness. Leaning into it today with some gum leaf art and all the classic Aussie rock I can find on Spotify. This too will pass.

Yesterday was Day 50 (!!) Of #ArtEveryDay, and easily the best part of this little project is when friends message me to say they got some supplies and they're going to make some art, too.

A photo showing a brand new watercolour pack and art diary. Sent from a friend, saying I inspired her to start!

Big day here as we've hit one month of #ArtEveryDay. I didn't think I'd last this long, but it's been really great fun, and hasn't felt like a chore at all. I think I may even be improving? Slightly. A small selection of recent attempts

Day 22 of #ArtEveryDay is a frosty morning impression. The stunning sunsets and sunrises we've been getting this week almost make up for it being fucking freezing.

#Watercolour

A watercolour of a sunrise over a frosted field. The sunrise is just before the sun crests, and grades from orange to pale blue.

As much as we all love to gripe about Deutsche Bahn, the Deutschland ticket is genuinely genius. Impromptu day out to Bonn, because why the heck not?

The Roman lion on the column served as the inspo for today's #ArtEveryDay. 12/365, we're going strong!

Charcoal sketch of a Romanesque pillar with a Roman stone carving of a lion on top.Photograph of the charcoal sketch inspo. It's important to note that the carved lion is kind of shit. This explains why the charcoal sketch is shit...

We made it to one week of #ArtEveryDay! Today i realised trees are actually a bit of a mystery.

A small watercolour image of four trees. It's not good.

#ArtEveryDay is continuing apace.

We're on day 6 now, and it's feeling like getting to 365 is achievable. I think it helps that I'm not actually very good, so taking 5 minutes to do a quick sketch isn't a stretch, as my expectations are so low 😂

#ArtEveryDay continues.

Excellent rock formations in the pfälzerwald.

A goal for 2025 is to do something creative every day, getting a head start with charcoals.
