Trias-Building in #Leipzig

This Building was constructed from 2012 to 2014 and planned by the #architects Schulz & Schulz. Despite being a #contemporary structure the #design resembles the #1920s with its dominant cornices and #modernist curves. It’s a stark contrast to the surrounding houses, yet through sticking to the historic lot size the building forms a continuous #streetscape and creates a nice entrance to the #historic city centre.

#civilengineer and #ArtHistorian Wolfgang Hocquel draws a comparison to the #Flatiron #building in #newyork which you can see in the second picture (taken around 1903 and stored in the library of congress).

I take my spouse to aquatherapy. While we're there she'll ask me about some new #AfricanHistory story that I've picked up in my studies. Today, I told her about the work of an #ArtHistorian who discussed the 12thC trade link between West Africa and France. A random woman in the pool started asking curious questions, so I told her my personal interest is in learning more about international diplomatic relations that Medieval Africans had with European and Asian countries.
