FWIW, there is a bit of a learning curve for #InkStitch (and I suppose also for #Inkscape as well, but I've been using it for years) but the docs and some tutorial videos helped pretty quickly...Brother and many other manufacturers really push proprietary subscription software (there's a smartphone app, #Artspira, for this machine, but you can't draw fill shapes without a subscription!!! and versions of PE-Design can go as high as $1000! Though you can find versions cheaper) and im happy this machine seems to work pretty flawlessly with it.

It helps that I've done 3d printing design too - it's actually a similar workflow, but instead of slicing, you create stitch plans (usually one per color) for your SVG layers/groups.

I've been building my layers "up" from largest fill to smallest, with the outline done last. #embroidery #floss
