$omehow, in the #8bitwar the #C64 was much more popular even when specs been almost the same. The difference in #BASIC language was less significant for the success. Most likely that competition was won by #Commodore because Jack Tramiel took the advice of his grandfather so serious.

Anders als man annehmen könnte war der 1200XL nicht das letzte Modell der XL Serie sondern der recht holprige Anfang. Wegen den Kompatibilitätsproblemen mit der 400/800 Reihe war die Lebensdauer dann auch sehr kurz und er wurde nur in den USA verkauft. Erst die überarbeitete 600/800XL behoben diese und lieferten den erwarteten weltweiten Erfolg. Die Grafik der 8 Bit Atari war ihrer Zeit weit voraus und legte die Basis für den späteren #Amiga.
