@Commodore_Kevin Do you have precise technical details about that?

Because I tried but the "SRAM 64kB revised" card and the "Ultimate 1MB" card did not seem to work together.

My old thread from 2y ago with pictures is here on my old account:

Here are the pristine board and both extensions: the small one is "SRAM 64kB revised", the big one is the "Ultimate 1MB RAM expansion" which is said to require 64kB first.

The last picture shows the SRAM extension. CI is a "pluggable" wire to pin 16 of the MMU (CAS_INHIBIT).

The cables on the 6502 are unused here. The will go to the Ultimate card in the complete setup.

PS: I don't have electronics knowledge but mostly sort my thoughts.

Unmodified but opened up Atari 600XL board. In the upper center the cartridge slot, big chips on the south, with the 3rd being the 6502. Joystick ports on the right. The extension board as described in the toot. The other of the SRAM extension showing the somewhat incomplete text

The wire as described in the toot, from CI on the module to pin 16 of the MMU. It contains a wire plug to be easily disconnected. Four other wires are soldered to 6502 chip but are unused here. Colors are red, orange, green, brown.

So I'm sure my soldering itself was fine as the still works with the SIDE3 cartridge and the "SRAM revised" extension.

indicating that it's at least more than the original 16KB of the Atari 600XL.

My soldering activities and my were like Janet and Michael Jackson - never together in the same room.

Today I resolved that.

Though only with 40% success. The SRAM extension in my works alone a bit (sic!?) but the combo with the Ultimate 1MB card does not.

I'm a bit lost.

More details later.

I tried to clean up that metal plate.

The only thing that helped a bit at all was NEVR-DULL, an oily cleaning cotton wool usually used to clean motorcycles.

Still not really shiny but it feels less dirty.

The separate metal plate from the 600XL with a box of nevr-dull on it.

Are the chips in my socketed so that it's easy to upgrade?

Let's have a look...

An opened Atari 600XL, 3 parts on a table: the keyboard, the ground plastics, and the actual board which is still closed with a somewhat dirty metal case. The Atari 600XL board with all the chips visible. They are all socketed. That's good news as it requires less soldering.

again.

I welcomed an in my corner.

Got it on eBay just for curiosity. Smaller than I thought, I didn't expect it to be so ... cute.

Unfortunately the keyboard is one of the cheap/bad variants, not well suited for serious typing.

As I'm not so emotionally tied to the 600XL I might read around if it allows some of those modern extensions that I don't allow to my sacred original 800XL.
