This photo was taken pointing up at the sky while I was standing next the trunk of a Maple tree that is just beginning to change colour.

You can see one branch of the tree whose leaves are in various stages of turning red, from being fully red to being half red and half green to being mostly green with only a delightful hint of redness in them.

The rest of the branches are more or less completely green still with only the occasional leaf on them that is just beginning to change colour.

Behind the leaves you can see two apartment towers looming in the distance. They are tall and grey. Behind the apartment towers you can see an overcast sky with just a touch of blue sky peeking through.

Feels blissfully autumnal this morning, with open windows making me a bit chilly. I've got coffee brewing, edits to work on, novel writing to do, and science writing deadlines. Forth!

The trees is still green and verdant. The vine’s leaves are beginning to turn yellow as autumn approaches.

My second #SilentSunday is this fabulous lilium lancifolium 'Farrer's Form.

It differs from the standard lancifolium by having ridiculously glowing orange flowers held on 7 foot tall stems.

Both are lovely, however this form is brilliant next to purple herbaceous phlox and clematis.

Lilium lancifolium Farrer's Form is worth seeking out from specialist nurseries.

Hundreds of baby lily bulbs are produced on a strong clump, so I am amazed that this cuktivar isn't more widely grown.

The bulbils will produce flowers in around 3 years.

Plant immediately because they dry out very quickly once they detach from the main stem.

I plant mine about inches deep for the first year and repot once they get big enough.

The spider needs a home, right? #crochet #AutumnIsComing
