I finally decided to purchase a cargo #ebike for myself. I've been riding it for a little while now and it's been amazing. I rarely rode my #bike before and now I'm trying to find excuses to ride more often.
I'm planning to use it primarily to get groceries since I don't own a car.

I learned what happened to my #ebike: the package was damaged in transit.
Normally, I would blame the shipper #fedex but in this case I will defend them: #Aventon only uses staples to hold the box together, and does not tie around it at all. It also could have been loaded rightside-down at some point, which made it structurally unsound. Bad design.
Because Aventon charges a mandatory restock fee for refused shipments, I accepted it. The bike itself looks OK, but I might be missing pieces.
Had planned on an MTB workout, but had some errands come up that made me switch to cargo e-bike. Decent workout anyway, and that’s 17.25 miles NOT driven by car. Pretty awesome that the Apple Maps estimate for driving the same route is over 40 minutes.
And the fastest split was for the hardest climb on the ride, too. Torque sensor is awesome.
Decided not to get the #Aventon Soltera beause of all the issues I'm seeing on forums about their batteries not working. Going for the #VVolt Alpha S instead (out of Portland, OR). #Singlespeed, no chain! (Belt) Unfortunately the size I want is out of stock. Will have to be patient. #EBikes
Aventon Abound - first ride
I hemmed and hawed on many models, but as my goal is to replace all trips <5 miles with a bike, I knew I would get more out of investing in one that could haul groceries. It doubles as a way to keep my heavy backpack clean and off my back when riding.
I didn't open her up as I took a main street without a bike lane, but you can see the downhill in the results 😉

@aj really depends what your use cases are and what feels good to ride. That said, i found the #aventon pace 500.3 to be an amazing value compared to some others. But there are tons of new bike form factors enabled by adding a motor, so definitely go try some out. Rad power is also cheap but looks a bit sketch right now from a support standpoint. You really need a local ebike shop to try a bunch.
Well done, #aventon this thing really is a masterpiece and quickly becoming my favorite bike!
