This past week had me flying a long distance to trade snow for sand, in the form of Web Summit Qatar. This coming week will also have me flying from snow to sand, but not nearly as far: I’m headed to Las Vegas for the customer-experience company Medallia’s annual conference. (The organizers of each event are covering my travel costs.)

🔻 Google работает над проектом Suncatcher — запуск TPU-чипов на орбиту совместно с Planet Labs к 2027 году. Концепция предусматривает кластер из 81 спутника радиусом около 1 км, оснащённых солнечными панелями и лазерными каналами связи.
🔻 Китай уже отправил первые 12 спутников системы Three-Body Computing — часть программы Star Computing. В перспективе она включает 2800 спутников с суммарной мощностью 1000 петаопераций в секунду. Эти аппараты оснащены ИИ-моделями на 8 млрд параметров и лазерными каналами связи до 100 Гбит/с, обрабатывая данные прямо на орбите.🇨🇳
🔻 Axiom Space собирается запустить первые два модуля орбитального дата-центра до конца 2025 года. Они получат оптические межспутниковые каналы на 2.5 Гбит/с, совместимые со стандартами SDA.🚀
