We all know Australia's beloved white whale, Migaloo, but have you seen the beautiful white humpback whale calf recently discovered in Vava'u, Tonga?

Marine biologist Alice Forrest captured these beautiful shots of the calf when working as a trip leader at Swimming With Gentle Giants – taking people to swim with humpback whales and teaching them about whales, citizen science and conservation.

"Every baby whale I'm lucky enough to see is incredible and exciting, but a sighting like this is once in a lifetime," Alice says. "This is the first white calf ever recorded in Tonga – white whales like this are thought to occur only once in every 40,000 individuals, and there are only a few white whales on our planet!"
