Multiple folks on here had good things to say about last year's #cdrama #FangsOfFortune so I decided to give it a try.

It is fantasy but also makes fun of the genre while still taking itself seriously enough. I like that.

I recognized Zhang Miao Yi as a demon in the first episode (she was Su Zai Zai in #WhenIFlyTowardsYou ) and Riley Wang who was also a demon buddy of Neo Hou in #BackFromTheBrink !

Misfit gang of tragic back stories solve murder mysteries together?

While it's not completely wrong I'd rather say Back From The Brink is the C-drama version of Fuck-Marry-Kill. Only, to pass review, they had to cut out the 'fuck' part.

We finally got to Baby Dragon and the below scene in my rewatch of the #cdrama #BackFromTheBrink with Spouse.

Baby Dragon is *still* best Dragon. And his actor is so good, because you can immediately tell the difference in face and mannerisms between Baby Dragon and not-Baby Dragon.

Baby Dragon is delightful.

Just gals being pals, taking a bubble bath together surrounded by rose petals, drinking wine, at a hotel on New Years Eve. 😉

I needed something downloadable to watch and picked the #cdrama #EveryoneLovesMe with the same FL as #BackFromTheBrink and ML as #PutYourHeadOnMyShoulder.

I need to see more C-drama* because I find this theme of Uncovering Secret And Ancient Knowledge fascinating. Back From the Brink and Word of Honor both subverts the trope; in BFtB they spread the secret to everyone, and in WoH the knowledge turns our to be outdated. I'm curious to see what happens here!

Always wondered why they chose white for Yan Hui and Tian Yao's wedding outfits. I mean, to the #Chinese white is literally the colour of death & mourning 😅 If this took place in modern China, I would not blink an eyelid, but this is fantasy-ish ancient China. Surely the same rules apply or something?
But anyway, this scene was jarring for me because I kept thinking, "What are they trying to do? Curse them or something?"

I may not like #BackFromTheBrink on the whole, but I really like the two lead actors. They're fine. Like Neo Hou is like REALLY FIIINE if you know what I mean.
But it's just a pity it was stuffed full of filler episodes & had an abrupt change in quality by episode 15.
Also, I really, really like the OST, especially this song sung by Neo.
I like actors who can sing like this 😜

Instead of watching the rest of #BackFromTheBrink I decided to read this for closure. Lawd I am glad I didn't waste my time 😂

I guess I am not a fan of romance, especially in #xianxia settings. I prefer mostly serious classic #wuxia and high production quality & acting is very important or I won't even watch.
