Water testing increased after 96-litre fuel spill in Baker Lake, Nunavut
An announcement from the territory’s new Department of Transportation and Infrastructure says the spill happened on April 4 while a fuel delivery truck was being filled, and that it was the result of human error.

Fire destroys hamlet garage in Baker Lake, Nunavut
Police said volunteer firefighters tried to extinguish the fire but as of later that morning, the hamlet garage had been completely destroyed.

1st day of a short #backpacking trip in Great Basin National Park. The route followed old mining road and passed through the ruins of a briefly thriving community. From there, I stopped by the lake, climbed to the top of the nearby peak, then dropped to a second lake for the night.

Former boarding house near Johnson Lake in Great Basin National Park, the Johnson Lake Historic Mining District. Another line of them cover the edge of the portion of valley that contains the lake. They are found in clumps on the slopes around the flat of the glacial valley. A rocky high ground in the foreground descends to a tree covered ridge with meadow areas, then climbs again to a white rock peak. Behind it, small hills are seen among a distant flat.
