The #ARCS, with support from #Peace_Village_International, has provided essential humanitarian aid to 419 families affected by the #earthquake in various districts of Mazar-e-Sharif, the capital of Balkh Province.

As part of the relief effort, each family received three types of assistance items, including blankets, dry milk, and biscuits.

A powerful 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck northern Afghanistan last night, killing at least 20 people and injuring over 320, according to Taliban officials. The quake’s epicenter was located 51 km from Mazar-i-Sharif and 23 km from Kholm in Samangan province, with tremors felt across multiple provinces, including Kabul, Balkh, and Baghlan.

Un terremoto de magnitud 6.3 sacudió el centro de Afganistán y causó alarma regional. Epicentro y magnitud confirmados.

El Servicio Geológico de Estados Unidos (USGS) reportó un terremoto de magnitud 6.3 en la región central de Afganistán, ocurrido el lunes 3 de noviembre de 2025 a las 00:58 horas (hora local) (14:58 horas de este domingo, tiempo de la ciudad de México), con una profundidad estimada de 10 kilómetros.

De acuerdo con los primeros informes, el epicentro se localizó a 35.2 kilómetros al suroeste de Khulm y 37.2 kilómetros al sureste de Mazār-e Sharīf, una de las principales ciudades del norte afgano.

El sismo también se sintió con intensidad en Balkh, Aībak y zonas próximas a la frontera con Uzbekistán, donde algunos edificios presentaron daños estructurales menores según los reportes iniciales.

Impacto y ubicación geográfica

Las coordenadas exactas del movimiento telúrico fueron 36.479°N y 67.413°E, con un margen de error horizontal de 8.4 kilómetros y vertical de 1.9 kilómetros, conforme al informe técnico del USGS.

El evento sísmico se registró dentro de una región altamente sísmica, donde la interacción de las placas tectónicas de India y Eurasia genera actividad constante y frecuentes temblores de mediana a gran magnitud.

El organismo estadounidense detalló que el sismo fue detectado por 96 estaciones sísmicas, ubicadas a una distancia promedio de 280 kilómetros del epicentro, con un margen de error de 0.94 segundos en el registro. –sn–
