I'm deep into refactoring the #E2EE code today. My goal is to reconstruct all of the server side code.
So, it's back to #Bandwagon roulette for today's coding music. It's simple: go to search, pick a hashtag (#Ambient for me, please), then play the top album in the results. They shuffle every time you reload, so there's always something new.

If not, what features could the developers of @funkwhale and BandWagon (@benpate) add that would allow accounts on their software to be used for release and show announcements, so you wouldn't need a second account on a micro-posting service for that?

I should do this, but have been waiting because I *really* want to self-host the main #Emissary and #Bandwagon accounts on my own software.
Right now, Emissary is a great PUBLISHER and READER, but it does a poor job with DMs. So I couldn’t really use Emissary to support questions like this one.
It’s been on my roadmap for a while, and it’s why I’m excited to build #e2ee DMs, too.
But I do plan to launch these as soon as I have a good solution for DMs.

Wie steht es eigentlich mit der GEMA Material bei #peertube ? Beziehungsweise betrifft es ja auch Audio-Plattformen im #fediverse wie #bandwagon oder #funkwhale
Nach meinem Verständnis wäre es rechtlich so: die Betreiber:innen der Instanzen müssten GEMA-Gebühren zahlen, sobald GEMA-pflichtiges Material auf der Plattform ist. Genauer gesagt mindestens den Tarif VR-OD 10 (Video-on-Demand in geringem Umfang) für 240€ netto im Jahr.
Das Geld landet bei der GEMA im Topf und wird nach Verteilschlüssel an die Bands ausgezahlt. Verteilschlüssel heißt: Nicht nur die konkreten Urheber:innen deren Songs auf der Instanz sind, sondern alle GEMA-Mitglieder:innen profitieren. D.h. der Großteil des Geldes geht an die Grönemeyers und Taylor Swifts dieser Welt und ein paar Cents an die Indie-Bands.
Zur besseren Einordnung: GEMA-Künstler:innen haben ihre Verwertungsrechte an die GEMA abgetreten und sie können auch nicht einfach der GEMA sagen, dass bestimmte Plattformen ihre Musik lizenzfrei nutzen dürfen.
Nun die Frage: Was heißt das für uns als Label? Einfach drauf scheißen und "unsere" Bands auf @bakraufarfitatube posten? Wie sehen das die Instanz-Betreiber:innen? @elminuto ?
