In the characteristic glass façade of the cucumber-shaped building The Gherkin, a neighbouring high-rise is reflected. It's 100 Bishopsgate, which - to my disappointment - doesn't have a proper name. The reflected sky is coloured dark to black because of the infrared. The façade consists of many horizontal rows of alternating glass triangles and diamond shapes. Every four glass panes run thick, light-coloured metal reinforcements diagonally across the outer skin, also forming diamonds. This creates diagonal bands of glass, one of which is darker in colour than the others and stretches from the top left corner of the picture to the bottom right. The fact that each glass pane is slightly curved means that the reflection of the surrounding buildings is not perfect, but creates distortions of the building edges, window struts, roofs, etc., which are symmetrical in reality of course. At the Can of Ham, for example, which protrudes into the picture on the left-hand edge, a whole section appears to have been cut out at the edges of two triangular surfaces, and at 100 Bishopsgate the shape of the roof cannot be recognised. Overall, the photo creates a strong contrast between the chaotic reflections and the very ordered glass façade.

It's good to see that #punk isn't dead in London.
