A political movement built on conservatism's signature combination of servility, sadism, and selfishness would naturally be inclined towards someone like Trump, who authentically embodies those, uh, let's call them "values." But installing someone that relentlessly corrupt and fundamentally unhappy atop a movement so inclined towards degrading mimesis would eventually turn it inward in destructive ways. The crises and anxieties feed on and fight with each other; they multiply, and grow louder and more chaotic. It gets weirder and weirder without any of the people inside of it noticing.

At least #BariWeiss admitted that she couldn't avoid her view of #Walz being shaped by the X algo. Whether Elon is doing this intentionally or not, this really is the problem with all algos. They will either spiral us into believing a more extreme version of where we already lean, or let the platform owner try to spin us however they choose. Should I listen to #BariWeiss talk to three people who all want to make the military industrial complex more like Silicon Valley? She introduced the episode talking about how World War III was basically imminent. It's almost everything I hate rolled into one conversation. But if I avoid it, am I not shielding myself from their arguments that might change my mind? If I thought they were ignorant or stupid or I was sure not to learn anything, I wouldn't even consider wasting my time. Ugh.
They also touched on this in the #BariWeiss #Honestly podcast about single parent households. We've had a steep decline in #teen #pregnancy and #abortion. Reasons are postulated like #contraception and less sex but I'm sure it was religious abstinence education. Praise Jesus!
