Anyone here ever downgrade their setup and find themselves happier?
I've been using a 27 inch 1440p monitor as my primary display for ages, but I've realized that I'm generally not fond of 16:9 displays and having two of them at my desk was really starting to bug me. Rather than spending money I don't have on things I don't need, I took the 1440p monitor out, moved my 22 inch 1080p ips display to the center, and set up a dying CRT on the left and a vertical 5:4 Dell monitor on the right. The variety of aspect ratios has brought me a lot of joy, and I especially like that my desk feels a lot less cramped. #Battlestation

The desk has a split keyboard in the centre and a white mouse to the right, glowing indigo. A candle is lit near the mouse next to a large A4 pad. Various pens are spread around, and a Stream Deck and Wacom pad. The left monitor has Mastodon open in a web browser on its top half and a music player in its bottom half. The centre browser has two pages open, one a dark page of documentation for something or other, the other a dark terminal. The rightmost monitor had three windows open, two terminals and one Steam window. One of the terminals has a code example printed.

Use it mostly to quit the sound of the keyboard on the desktop, so looking at something that will absorb sound well. May just grab a Keebmat for the KB

There should be a speciifc word for that duration of time between finally choosing and ordering #computer components until they are all delivered and you can start building your next #battlestation.

His/Hers desk setup in 2017. My laptop was a ThinkPad X250 running OpenBSD, attached to a 2560x1440 Dell monitor. Hers was a 2016 Rose Gold MacBook Retina running whatever macOS, and a Mac mini 2012 attached to the same model monitor. This was our townhouse in Ecuador. The keyboard is a Model M SSK from 1997.
